I arrived back in Bali and Inda was there to meet me at the Ngurah Rai airport, Toby being on business in Papua.
It was great to see Jayden and Tasha again, it felt like I had never left. In the mornings I here, “Oma, Oma!” outside my door, which means get up and open the door and let us in. O.K. Cool with me. Their English is getting better and better, thank heavens as my Balinese isn’t, they even translate for me. Tasha has been doing this for a while but now Jayden is too!
It was Inda’s ottonan a few days after I arrived, ottonan being the Balinese birthday as opposed to the western calendar one. It was on a full moon day which was very auspicious so it was off to the Padanda (Hindu priest) for a ceremony – there are always ceremonies to go to in Bali.
I like the priest very much. He seems to look at you and you feel he understands you. There were many offerings, including a tiny roasted suckling pig, incense burning, holy water being rubbed into Inda’s naked back along with what looked like grass clipping and rice.
A terracotta cup was smashed and smoke inhaled.
Ceremonies are very different here to in India, much more casual with people chatting and talking on the ever present – wretched – Blackberries, cups of very sweet tea and pastries being consumed and children running around having fun and photos being taken, anything goes.
We made it home in time for me to join in the world full moon meditation. The Swami Rama ashram that I go to in Rishikesh sends out emails to give the correct time in each zone for meditation on a full moon day. That way we have a world group meditation session.
Francesca, Selma and I met up in Ubud for lunch, oh I love Ubud and realized that I couldn’t stay in Denpasar any longer. I needed the green, the fresh air and the calm atmosphere of Ubud. So that is where I am now. Back ensconced at the Sari Bamboo in Penestanan just out of Ubud.
It is a good 20 minute hilly walk into town and there are many wonderful walks through small lane ways and rice field, so here I get plenty of exercise. In Denpasar with Toby
and Inda I didn’t, no where to walk unfortunately. I love my room and have everything I need. There are only 2 rooms, one of which I have and 3 bungalows so it is very intimate and friendly and importantly – cheap. I will be staying here for a month or two. Come and visit if you like, I have room.
The rain has continued to follow me from Koh Samui to Penang and now here but I love big storms so it isn’t a problem. We just had a rip snorter and once again I have a small personal swimming pool outside my room.
At typical day for me starts with yoga, pranayama, meditation, a swim and then breakfast. A little reading followed by a long walk. Back for a swim and some fruit and crackers in my room. More reading and yoga and then off for another long walk into town for dinner.
I am also doing lots of planning for the future and have devised a different kind of yoga. Not telling yet, have got to get things organised, but my group I shall be taking to Sri Lanka for a yoga tour next
October will be happy I am sure. I also have a plan to do personal yoga training in peoples homes, including relaxation and breathing to reduce stress, who couldn’t use that?
I feel that all the things that I have learned this year are solidifying and coming together in a practical way. What an incredible year this has been.

Wow Beverley, your life looks pretty good over there, and your typical day sounds idyllic!!!! and I love your room with the four poster bed and sitting area overlooking the pool!! Pete and Alex have gone off to Bangalore for a week to look after a customers car in a Rally....so its nice and peaceful for a while apart from a couchsurfer or two. The rains are still coming down heavy here, every day the morning is ok then big rains and storms all night. All the best Judy
