I was in Bali last 14-17 April 2012 and I travel with my friend via Air Asia coming from Singapore. The weather was extremely hot and at times drizzling. But still me and my friend has enjoyed the 4 days and 3 nights in Bali. I have written down my experience in Bali in a detailed day by day activities. Just a quick note as not much to report. Spent the last few days lording it around our beautiful hotel and sunbathing. Weather is brilliant despite the forecast of thunder every day. Took a lesson in fruit carving yesterday which will come in handy one day I am sure.... Can now confidently say that I can carve my name and a flower into a melon. Sad to report that Delhi belly finally caught up with me, currently averaging about 10 dashes to the toilet per day, although I am not unhappy about this as the toilets here are so posh that there is a button to push to give your bum a little jet wash after your business, so i don't even need to exert myself wiping! Wow Bali is beautiful, arrived to blue skies and friendly faces. Immediately things feel more chilled here. No more beeping car horns and littered streets! This section of my travels isn't technically travelling as I have accommodation booked for the duration of my stay, so updates will be less but am hoping to get some quality diving done here. I have renamed Bali my honeymoon holiday as me and my travel buddy Natalie have been made to feel like honeymooners. The people are so helpful and everything is very peaceful. Our hotel is pure decadence and I intend to make the most of it after India and before south America! Rachel has arrived! In predictable fashion we went out on the town a fair few times over the last few days..... Today is the first day i have felt up to writing on this blog. I was showing her around the area that i had been staying in for the past week, and took her to this specific bar on the beach called "La Vida Loca" turns out this bar has been all over the news in Auz because there was a shooting there 2 days before i arrived. I have been quieltly sipping my rum and cokes here for the whole week, compleatly oblivious. Bali is beautiful very different from what we've seen so far in Asia. It's much more of a holiday destination,I think by the end of this me and Hiral will def be missing the other backpackers! Apart from lounging by the pool and on the beach we have taken a couple of tours. The tours here are pretty cool as you get your own driver and tour guide so you avoid the horrible tour bus!! On our first tour we went snorkelling,it's the first time I've been and I won't lie,when they dropped us off in the middle of the ocean I did get just a little bit scared,it was pretty choppy. Christmas eve was spent lounging on Seminyak beach,never done that before! It was beautiful,the sand is golden and the beach virtually empty. We treated ourselves to crimbo prezzies and bought some bracelets :) we spent the evening catching up with a buddy from London in a beach side bar which was very upmarket,def not what we are used to but made a nice change. Christmas day was great,it was too hot for the beach so we stayed by the pool and had a Christmas lunch of prawn crackers,special fried rice and satay chicken for me. What a day! Not packed, not ready for travelling. Trying get lots of things in my head so I could feel free when I travel. Tooth brush, passport, phone, and what else!? Thank god I am in Bali the Haven! OH yes, the Haven Hotel. OMG! It has a spa! Must try it but at 1045pm. After shower, I walked down to the bar having free drinks! "Are you travelling on your own!?", a guy with heavily American excent asked me. "Yes, I am on my own", I replied. So I joined him to his table. His name is Alan and he is from San Fransisco. Sorry, we've been a bit bad with the blog updates lately, but we didn't have wifi so we'be got a good excuse! We started to get a bit fed up with Kuta, it's just so young and the sellers are so pushy they really start to get on your nerves! So we went to Seminyak and it's really cool. It's a lot quieter than Kuta and a bit more expensive but it's nice, got some really quirky restaurants and shops. We got a really good deal on a hotel too so we spent a lot of time just chilling out by the pool and going out in the evenings. Aug 2nd - 7th I finally made it to Bali after flying from Istanbul to Doha, Qatar to Singapore to Denpasar, Indonesia. I was stuck next to a large smelly guy with three kids that ran all around the plane and his arm was halfway in my seat blocking all my air con. Fun Fun! Anyways I made it alright and was excited to see what I came for... and for the third time, meet Nicci. We will be spending a good amount of time together again as we plan to spend a few days relaxing in Bali before we head to Australia where we rented a campervan and plan to drive from Cairns to Melbourne for roughly 6-8 weeks.
