Hey everybody!!! Yes that's right...we are back in Kuta...we just couldn't stay away for very long with the beach, massages at Jennifer Salon, our fav restaurant 'Treehouse', and of course the fact that there are things to do here at night! Our last blog left us with our last night in Kuta...That day when we were shopping we ran into Brittany Decker and her friend-I know the chances of running into my boss in Bali on Poppies 1...slim... what a small world! She was over from her job on Sumatra (another indonesian island) because it was Ramadan and everything was pretty much closed over there. Well were still in Bali but only have a few days left. Had a brilliant time so far!!! We met two lads from Nottingham Trent Uni, one lived with amanda in the first year; Joe and fat Andy who lived with gay (arguably/possibly) Rick, (who is no longer fat and never really was?? i think Miss Cameron made that name up!!!) Anyway had a good night out with them, which resulted in a few too many for me (I think) but you'll have to ask amanda for details. All I can remeber is talking to a sweatie fat man who asked us if there was any spare girls to take home and laughing at lady boys. I know it's been a while since the last blog but we were on the move there for a few days and then I just got a little lazy!!....sorry, but anyways here's the update... Presently we are in Bali but I'm going to go in order so after NZ we headed to Singapore for two days. Singapore is HOT!! really, really hot and muggy....it was not fun and very difficult to get used to after NZ where we were both rarely without our thermals and at least two layers on top. So we were still alive, and besides a nasty scab, that looked slightly like hitler's mustache on Mary's upper lip....we were recouperating nicely. We were officially staying at Cheer's bar....We could not walk in or out of our hotel with out someone calling our name or stopping us to ask how we were doing? It was like I have become a part of a the big family I had always dreamed about. Like any family, at times it was frustrating to have your waiter steal your paper before you even read it or to have to share your cookies with the bartender, but it was all in good family fun, because everyone at the hotel, guests and staff, treated us like American Royalty. Hello everyone, you are probably at work and should really be doing work rather than slacking, warning your work is probably more exciting than reading this!!!! Anyway, we made it to Bali and basically our first five days have panned out like this!!! Get Up Have Breakfast Beach Lunch Pool Beach Sunset incl Beer which is Bintang my new favourite beer only because its about 50p, Dinner Incl Bintang Bintang Bintang Bed!!! We have now made it to Ubud which is the cultural hub at the heart of Bali. We decided to hire a driver for the day to take a tour of the areas rice paddies, volcanoes and temples, as well as incorporating an elephant ride into the tour. ACT 1 - Everything Fallen into its Puzzle Place. How, Mary and I asked ourselves for the first 2 days, did we end up in Bali, Indonesia? Not 2 days prior we had be seating in her room in Shenzhen, China without passports, without plans, without hope for any excitment beyond another bowl of rice for the next 7 days. But luck happened in a big way. Here is how it started. Miracelously, Mary and I both got our passports and new, multi-entry visa's (the problem before was not leaving china, but being able to get back in). Mary didn't think she would get hers, so we pretty much thought we would spend the week trying on clothes and shoes that were too small. Well, he is not in Bali, Indonesia.....I have searched the island high and wide. But here is what is in bali -real toilets -ketchup -omelets -english speaking people -flip-flops -flip-flops that are actually in my size - lots of motobikes - a nice breeze at every moment - large, XL clothing - beaches - more beaches - many more beaches - cheap everything - did i say flip-flops - many temples, lots of incense, constant prayers for good luck - people struggling to make it because tourism is way down. - people happy and laughing even though in a month they make less that what i used spend on a nice meal in chicago - many austrailians (paradise is only a 3 hour plane ride from them) - a bar where everyone knows your name... read more

G'day G'day...we are back! There is a significant blog-lag here because we have been having a pretty lazy time in Indonesia since our last post way back in August! So, we left Darwin for a 10 day holiday from our, erm, holiday. It's hot in the Territory - I started to find that my speech was going. When asked the simplest question..usually would you like a beer (they like to drink up here, now so do I), I found myself replying with a yeah, no, yeah answer. Plus, there is only so much sunbathing you can do around the pool eh. The beers were taking their toll on my belly as were the dorms. Two girls managed to bring a different guy back EVERY night to "show" then their rooms, for want of a better phrase. ... read more

At last we are out of Thailand and on Bali! The flights were on time and so far we have liked what we've seen in Kuta. We got here on Saturday and spent everyday on the beach since. The water is freezing compared to Thailand but obviously the surf is much better. Me and Matt rented out body boards today but we're trying surf boards on Friday so John watch out son. We went out clubbing on Sunday over at M-bargo. Had a few alcholic beverages and a bit of a boogie. And last night we went for a meal at the hard rock cafe and watched a band from New Zealand play- not bad either. Ryan also wants to know why Dale and Khane haven't sent any messages over. right well for all you still keeping an eye on the blog. just pete left here below the equator. and so far ive had 4 days of surfing and started my scuba diving coarse today. but lads first things how did we miss indonesia. its the best place ever. the prices of everything are not only cut in half but some times you can get a good 10% or 20% or else im becoming a ruthless ruth and being harsh. see because indonesia had such a big tourism thing going on pre bombs in 2002 there are loadsa shops and stalls and then tourism has fallen so you can get stuff for so cheap. in other words you can take so much from them cause there desperate. but i like to think otherwise.and the people are ... read more
