Gili Island - Trawangan

Hi, its us again and its been a while! We have been really busy and also either had no internet connection or just sunbathing so not worth reporting on! :-)

You'll be pleased to know we were not affected by the tsunami but thanks for those of you to ask. Malaysia was ok and unaffected although I believe in the UK you were told we were.

Anyway just a quick run down on what we have been doing and hopefully we will be able to have internet connection frequently from now on.

Since our last blog we have been back to Singapore, where we met Nicole and experienced our first night in a shared room for 5 people! It was ok actually and we need to get used to it as I think we will be doing it a lot in Oz! On our day in Singapore we went to raffles but unfortunately the long bar was shut for a function so we couldn't get our Singapore sling, oh well another excuse to go back! It was also raining so we couldn't do much but we got to go to Orchard Rd the night before, which is all shops including designer so that made up for it! We then flew to Bali and staying near Kuta Beach. Again it was raining so we decided to get to an island just off of Bali called Gili Island - Trawangan. But before we headed there we met Nicole's friend Ida from Norway and her Swedish friend called Sanna for a few drinks. We had a great time and went to the Bounty Bar/club and Paddy's bar. This was the one that was effected by the bombs in 2002. We also made a point of going to the memorial in that week to see the garden where the nightclub was when it was hit by the bomb. It was a surreal moment. We then spent 4 days at Gili Island, which is small enough to bike around and there are no cars (just horse and cart). We went to the busy island but you could go to two other islands that were a bit quieter. We spent most of the time sunbathing, watching movies, drinking, biking around the island and swimming so I wont bore you with all the details. Oh and we tried a magic mushroom shake (sorry mum and dad!), had to be done but we had no major effect and were still in one piece. Anyway next stop is Oz and Ill do another blog for that. x
