Classmates, Jessica (US) with question

Hey Everybody, Ben here with my good friend, Xavier! He is an awesome brother in the Coimbatore Church of Christ and we have spent a lot of time together this week. I asked him to come online and write to all of you. We got your request to hear from more of the teens and I have Ryan here to help. It's just that after a long day of serving, most of the teens can barely stay awake through D-Group, let alone stand in line at the computer. But I will try to work it in to a devotional about taking [View Full Entry]

Hey Everybody, We have gotten many requests to hear more from the teens. And, honestly, the only reason they are writing is because we have the whole evening off. And, honestly, the only reason we have the evening off is because we are traveling all night. And, honestly, the only reason we're traveling at night is because the churches need EVERY WAKING HOUR OF OUR TIME! love, Ben Whatsup Everyone, I'm very suprised that I'm writing at all. When I get back I'm going to have Wendy's and catch up on some sleep. Traffic here is crazy. Some of us have [View Full Entry]

Note the large skittle balloon!
We arrived here yesterday morning and it was raining quite a bit, my first impression of India was seeing a dog run across the runway in front our plane after we had landed! The airport was very sparse and it is very humid everywhere. After filling in about 4 forms and waiting in as many queues we finally managed to work our way out of the airport only to be told that the hotel I had pre booked for us was a dump and in the middle of the red light district (Grant Road) with no places of interest nearby! We [View Full Entry]

Hey everybody, We finally got the internet back up and running at the hotel! Some services are not very reliable here. Thanks to everybody reading this and praying for us. I have a question for you. How does a church of 215 get 160 visitors? I was really hoping that we could get online last night so that maybe it could be announced at church. I know we are trying to focus on outreach. Saturday we split up into pairs and went to disciple's homes to encourage them and get to know them. Then we left and went to their neighbor's [View Full Entry]

june 27 random thoughts by mbaade: the best lassis in all of india truly are fantastic. thick and cold, the curd having been laid on ice, topped off with rose water, and the whole lovely dairy product cupped in a clay pot that can be smashed against the wall when finished. we came to go to the bank, which is quite in the opposite direction from our latest silk shop. it's pouring now. like whitewater and thunder. so we ducked into an interweb place, but it's ghetto and the computers are wicked slow. still, it's only 15 RS per hour, which [View Full Entry]

Got a night bus to McLeodganj, Nr. Dharmasala. This place was the highlight of our trip so far (only just, Leh was very close). We arrived in Mcloed at 5-30 am and couldn't find anywhere to stay. We later found out the reason - the Dali Lama (who we already knew was in residence there - why we went) was giving teaching to the monks in person. This was an added bonus to the already very good reason to be there - it was soon to be his 70th birthday. Also (it just gets better and better) we had been told [View Full Entry]

Good evening from Coimbatore! It is presently 5:45pm and most everyone is up eating dinner. The food is great here and they certainly are stuffing us. I guess I won't lose a couple pounds afterall! Today we split up. And yes, some of the teens were alone...well, not really considering we went with Coimbatore disciples to visit their homes and families. Some were even lucky enough to ride in auto-rickshaws and motorcycles! It was unbelieveable how gracious the people are here. Wherever we went, we were asked to sit and talk to the whoever happened to be there. Ben and I [View Full Entry]

7pm sir ? Asia » India » Karnataka » Bangalore
The pilgrimage to the IT holy land, India, has begun. Like King Monkey, but without the massive lamb chops. Upon reaching Singapore, I realized I still had no accommodation for tonight in Bangalore. The hassle of looking up phone nos on the internet and negotiating for a phone card was nothing compared to the ‘conversation’ with the guy at the serviced apartments. ‘Hi, Id like to follow up on a reservation enquiry’ ‘Hello sir’ ‘Yes, Id like to make a booking’ ‘Hi’ <10 seconds silence> ‘Er, can I make a booking& [View Full Entry]
