Ever wanted to do the ultimate, epic Indian rail journey ?. Try this for size, 11,500 Km in 14 days traveling from Mumbai, to Dwarka in the extreme West of the network, Udhampur in the extreme North, Tipong in the extreme East, Cape Kanyakumari in the extreme South, and then back to VT. We're going in February 2011.
Not hard enough ?, then you've either never been on an Indian train for very long, or you've been on an awful lot. There are actually people who do this kind of thing for breakfast, we'll have a number of them on the train. but even they generally travel in AC, Those of us with a point to prove will be giving it a go in 2nd class non AC sleeper. You can do the whole ride in first class AC if you prefer, you wont be alone. You can also just do parts of the journey if you dont think you can handle a full 2 weeks.
We are an independent group of travelers, and you'd be expected to travel as such, but we have a great wealth of experience across the group. We'll be building a huge live blog during the trip. Your friends will be able to track you through the whole journey. This could be the best chance you ever get to try something quite like this, and pull it off.
