 First couple of days in Delhi |

Hello everyone this is our first blog entry!!!
We are on a tight budget at the internet cafe tonight so gotta be quick.....nothing changes!
Well what can we say we are having the time of our lives. After a long flight we made it to paharganj in Delhi which is the backpackers hub, it is crazy here, colourful, busy, smelly (there is an open urinal outside our hostel...nice!!!) We are at Hotel Namakar, the rooms are painted pink and basic but we have a flushing toilet and hot water so we feel priviliged.
The streets are packed with people and also Cows!!! On our first trip out I (Laura) nearly got charged by a cow and I nearly got a horn in my posteria...it was very funny we laughed lots!!
We woke up today after a long sleep in quite a comfy bed, we chilled out (in the sun) for a while on the rooftop while contemplating where to go today. The plan took us to Jama Msjid in Old Delhi which is the largest mosque in India. We travelled here by the famous rickshaw.......it was quite a ride!! We felt famous when all the kids at the mosque surronded us wanting a photo! I (laura) even got filmed!!! We sat down and took it all in watching the passers by with a bowl of rice and then suddenly a bird let go of a huge poo and it landed right on Helens leg!!! it was hillarious!! and it stained!!! And shes got to where them for the next 12 months!!
This evening we sat in a cafe we found called Diamond (and it is a diamond) because they let us have beers to takeaway!!and even offered a tab....you know it! Our diet consists of Samosas for me (Laura) and potato pattys for Helen!! oh and beer and opal fruits from the plane!
Tomorrow we plan to visit South Delhi and then Friday we are taking the train to Agra to see the Taj Mahal then hitting the open road...

January 21st 2009 - Mum (Helens) & Auntie Sue: Pleased you arrived
Hi both of you, pleased you both arrived safely and not too jet lagged. You know it's lucky to have a bird poo on you so it could be an omen of an unbelievable trip ahead. Don't forget to take loads and loads of pics as we all want to see where you've been (plus it's proof that the two of you hav'nt just been hiding out in Blackpool!). We did forget to mention to watch for the cows, they have priority like the cyclists and trams do in Amsterdam!!!!!!!!

January 22nd 2009 - Macca and Dirty Watford: Our Day
Hi Guys
we (Macca and Hannah) were very excited to hear what you have been up to and thought that we (macca and hannah) would take this opportunity to tell you (laura and helen) what we (macca and hannah) have been up to today! We (Macca and Hannah) think it is far more exciting than yours!
I (Macca) have been at work. I (Macca) have had an interview. I (Macca) came home from work at approx 5.35pm. I (Macca) then had some dinner. I (Macca) then waited for Dirty Watford to come around so that we (Macca and Hannah) could watch Waterloo Road (taped from last night) and Hustle (on at 9.00pm sharp!).
I (hannah) woke up at 7.00am, but didn't get up until 8.00am! I (hannah) have not done anything interesting at work today, which you (laura and helen) might think is interesting! I (hannah) then went home, got into my pajamas and boots and went to Maccas house to watch the tele.
We (Macca and Hannah) have taken 10 minutes away from our tv watching extravaganza to send you this e mail to let you (laura and helen) know how much you (laura and helen) are missing out on! Ok, there are no cows where we (Macca and Hannah) are but we (macca and hannah) did almost see a giraffe earlier. Unfortunately we (macca and hannah) made a mistake and it actually turned out to be a man with a really long neck! We (macca and Hannah) were still excited by this and thought it would be worth telling you (Laura and helen)!
We (Macca and Hannah) have not had any birds crap on us (macca and hannah) today, however we (macca and hannah) have both (macca and hannah) had a crap ourselves, although not on each other (macca and hannah) as that would be weird!
We (macca and hannah) love you both (laura and helen) and can't wait read the next installment on the blog!

Hey Hels, sounds like the two of you are lapping up the Indian culture! Hope you have to wear the horrible plastic bags on your feet like me and Lou did when you visit the Taj Mahal! haha!
Enjoy it all and don't forget to take as many pic of EVERYTHING you can!

Hello to the great unwashed !
Hope that you are in good spirits and having an excellent time dudes. We are really glad that you got there safe and sound and it made my (stu) day to read that Helens travel pants have bird poo stain on day 2.
We are all fine in Bolton. Lex handed in her notice and leaves on the 20th Feb to be a full time mummy and leach to my bank account ! ! we have a couple looking at the house on Friday so fingers crossed. We will email you some pics of Freyas birthday later on this week.
