This year we are also going to Shantinekatan for Dance programme. Holi is also known by another name, which is Basant Utsav. Basant Utsav is celebrated with fervors in the state of West Bengal. The tradition of Basant Utsav, meaning Spring Festival was started by poet and Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore at Shantiniketan, HOLI HAI... HOLI HAI...RANGO KI TOLI HAI?. Appear Holi and the streets will reverberate with the chants of Holi hai... Holi - from its mythological past to its present. The festival of Holi actually starts the night before with a bonfire made up of all the dried leaves and branches left through the winter. It is a way of clearing these and making way for spring. Metaphorically though, the fire is meant to signify the destruction of evil - the burning of the ? Holi is the Indian festival of colors, which is the sign of happiness simultaneously for among all age of people. Holi celebrations in India cut across section and religious conviction. The festival of Holi and celebration of Holi bind citizens simultaneously. .
