The only time you don't hear the sound of horns honking is when there is a wedding procession. The reason for this is because the music is so loud it drowns out everything else! The hallways at the hotel here just echoed with the music.
Mom, the pimped out cars with the base booming so loud that you can feel them before they drive past you have nothing on these wedding processions.
I was actually studying in my room when I heard this loud music and out of curiosity I had to find out what it was all about. Hmm...I wonder where I got that from? When I looked out the window I saw this procession walking down the street following this cart, pulled by men, blasting music as they slowly moved up the street. So I ran back to my room grabbed my camera and threw on my sandals, mind you it was a little cold for sandals but I had a story to cover.

I quickly walked out of the hotel and into the middle of the street and was lucky enough to get some pictures.
It was such a sight! There were all kinds
of drums and horns playing, men were dancing and a little further down you saw the women wearing such beautiful saris in all kinds of colors dancing and laughing. They were all waving at me while I played the role of the paparazzi. I didn't want to be rude but I just had to get some pictures of the celebration.
Cars, motorcycles and rickshaws still drove past and still honked their horns but they seemed to move at a slower rate. Probably because they knew no one could hear their horns.

I still think you should have put on your sari and crashed the party! :)
That's neat that you got to experience something like this. Its even better that you went out into the street and joined!!!
