24hrs of travelling, 2 trains, 1 bus and a short treck on foot, and we finally arrived in Pushkar! Thank goodness it's such a relaxed place to arrive in after such a mamoth schlep!
A small town gathered around a lake, which was apparantly formed when Lord Brahma dropped a lotus flower on the earth. It is therefore one of the most important pilgrimage places in Hindu faith and as Varanassi was, a place to come and take prayers and bathe in the sacred waters to cleanse the soul. There are also loads of temples here, one which is the only in the world devoted to Lord Brahma, so an other important place.
Unfortunately as this place is so sacred we weren't able to take many photos, but hopefully the ones we have give a fair idea of what it was like.
Dan - Managed to find a place to stay easy enough the owner asked us to call him 'Diamond Geeza' naturally he was a pleb but we took the room anyway as it was only RS/100 and came with an air cooler (Nic got soo cold in the night she had to turn it off). Oh
also another highlight was got hold of some toast with.....................wait for it...................wait for it..................MARMITE!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yes the eigth wonder of the world or so it may seem to us at the mo. Let me explain my dilema at the mo......I've had enough of curried food really I have, can you imagine eating curried food for breakfast, lunch and dinner for nearly 3 months!!! even the crisps are curried flavour!!
Nic - A slight over exageration, but still, it is nice to get the opportunity of a break.....We even found a proper pizza, which Dan was extatic about!
We stayed here for 2 days, which were nice and relaxed, it's good to sit and people watch and take in the surroundings. From here we headed to Bundi.....an even smaller town, with an impressive palace and fort set on the side of a hill - More in the next update!
