Well, we are back to the real world now- work and uni have already started to hurt! Just wanted to wrap this blog up and thank everyone for keeping in touch when we were away. Was always great to hear from you, and we definitely missed you all!
I'll put some photos up of Jay's wedding, which went from the 17th to the 19th of January. It was absolutely amazing! The hindu wedding goes for 3 days- the first is the ring ceremony, when the couple become "officially" engaged, and Jay's was held at a function centre decked out in Arabian style. The place was surrounded by candles, beautiful draping materials and fires- amazing! The second day is the big drinking night! Oh, should mention the entire 3 days are basically just excuses to dance and eat LOTS.. we kept getting force-fed from everyone :) The final day is the official hindu marriage ceremony, which was interesting but went for so long! It's quite funny actually, cause no-one actually watches the ceremony, they all move away towards the food and seats! All in all and amazing experience, especially after spending so long with the poorer people of india.
We flew out
My freshly painted henna handsI'm still trying to get that stuff off- almost 2 weeks later! Apparently if the henna lasts a long time it means your mother-in-law will like you!
from india on the 20th jan, and then spent 4 days in singapore, which was really relaxing. Unfortunately we discovered on the 2nd day that we had maxed out our credit card, so didn't get to do much shopping!! Got to meet Kwang's family (who is a guy doing his phd with me), which was great, especially as they cooked beautiful food for us!
Well, guess that wraps it up. Now have to get back to the real worls, and just start dreaming about the next trip!
See you all soon, to bore you with more photos and stories :)
Love Lauren and Cliff.
