Mangalajodi is a relatively unexplored tourism destination in the Khurda district of Odisha. This fragile eco-system hosts more than a lakh birds every year and along with the serenity it attracts nature lovers and wildlife enthusiast from all across the world. But, just before few decades the village was very much defamed as poachers’ village. TOUCHWOOD click that speaks ? That was just a coincidence.... May be you will not agree with me but being an "Explorer"in "Photography"I have always explored "street boys" through my lens and I have seen different moods and expressions. That day I  was on an early morning trip with my wife to "Chandipur Beach" just a few (10km) away from my home ? Balasore city in Odisha. And i usually go there most of the time I visit my home ?.  The difference is... Though you won't  get the "waves" we all get to see on any "sea beach"but the #nude beach on low tide timings(mostly during morning hours) is awesome impressive to walk in to the sea with just "knee deep" water . While clicking some wonderful shots of typical lowtide #mood of #Chandipur beach with a cloudy sky although my ... read more

"Chandipur" on a Sea a #nostalgic Memory..." "Chandipur" sea beach is unique for its uniqueness in many ways. During low tide the sea recedes so much that one can walk up to 3 to 4 kms in to the sea ? with just knee deep water . I remember my own childhood days of picnic trips to Chandipur during Sunday's with friends . I was in mid school level if I am not wrong & used to go there with bundles of firewood and all utensils tied to each one's cycle ? . I used to ask my Mother how to cook Rice and Red meat ! And as described by her the method I used to jot down on paper and she was my first Guru to pamper and inspire me for enjoying my holidays ... read more

Ci risiamo!

Oh No..…today we need to start our journey back home from Bhubaneswar. Our Odisha Odyssey was coming to the scheduled but undesirable end. It has been a good familiarization outing with the enriching exposure. To optimize the experience, and utilize the available day, we checked out of the hotel with the rising sun. Panthanivas Puri, had luxury coaches lined up to take tourists on their sightseeing package tours. The tourists from the neighboring hotels had also gathered there and awaiting the boarding instructions. We were ready with our bags in the boot for our voyage to Bhubaneswar. The February morning chill was very pleasant. The sea breeze was tempting us to stay on. We needed to be practical. The distance between Puri & Bhubaneswar was hardly 60 km and can be covered in an hour’s time ... read more

Before leaving Rajahmundry this morning at Mani insistence, I visited the river front where a festival was underway and large numbers of people were being fed out of large steel pots, looking happy despite the morning heat and noise. I had to keep moving otherwise I would be surrounded by camera toting people trying to photograph me. The next destination was an old temple out in a rice field near the town Pithapurum the people here were also celebrating festival which was most colourful. The people here mainly speak Telegu which Mani does not do asking directions from locals was difficult so we failed to find the temple. We continued the journey north to Visakhapatnam or Visag for short, this city by Andra Pradesh standards is clean and pleasant. About 40 kilometers before arrival we stopped ... read more

I got invited to Bhubaneshwar by my friend Russell but got invited to fly there from Kolkata by his boss in his private plane. We had to be there at 5.30 and then with updates a bit later. The drive to the airport was crazy of course in a classic ambassador taxi – a new one which meant it still had its shock absorbers useful when driving on roads that make the Transkei roads seem tame in comparison in all facets that means bicycles, rickshaw’s motorbikes cars and busses coming at you in all directions and I do mean going the wrong way. I keep on wondering how our black taxi drivers would fare here. Then there is the condition or non condition of the roads. Building roads here is a long process as its mainly ... read more

I had braced myself for my return to India and the being reunited with my beloved Gladys the wonder bike (Royal Enfield). When I left in January 2012, she was singing sweetly. I knew that 18 months was a long time to not have her in my care, and that there was risk involved with her not having the daily attention she was accustomed to. My friend Prabhu had done his best to keep up with the responsibility, and in the end we had agreed to lend her out to a few people just so she would get a regular run. Perhaps one of the choices that eventuated was not as prudent as we might have thought.... Gladys was not a happy trooper.... she sounded bad, was misfiring, her self pinion was broken for one thing ... read more

Bhubaneswar – The Temple City of India We arrive at Bhubaneswar at 6-40am after an overnight train from Shalimar station, Kolkata. We decide to travel light with rucksacks only leaving our main bags in the hotel in Kolkata – after a small purge of unnecessary gear – as we are returning to the Esplande Chambers Hotel on our return from our short foray into the state of Odisha. On arrival we negotiate an auto rickshaw to take us to the “Ginger Hotel” some 4-6 kms outside town (R’s 100). The rickshaw breaks down 2 kms along so he does a deal with another to take us the rest of the way. It’s a boutique Hotel, part of the Tata group, and we got a reasonable deal online (but still more than we’ve paid in central Kolkata ... read more
