I visited Doha a year back, many of my family and friends were skeptical about the travel because of the mindset we share about the country as being too conservative or unsafe. I did read up everything possible online before making the trip, and considered myself sufficiently warned on dressing and generally being respectful and mindful of the locals. On reaching Doha, I realized my perception had been too harsh. Doha is no different from UAE, and the people there can be warm and understanding. The country has survived and been through a lot, fighting against much stronger contenders, and despite that it has sustained itself. Day one I started my tour of the lovely city with the famous market area, Souq Waqif. Souq traditionally means marketplace and is generally a prominent and buzzing center of ... read more

Travelling is not just about ticking your passport with visas but actually living in a city where you have never been to!!!! This is what I did in my trip to Australia in January 2018. I was accompanying my husband for an official workshop in Sydney and we decided to stay only in Sydney for the entire duration. After checking out a lot of itineraries online, I decided to plan my own chilled out vacation without any plans. I received my visa just one day prior to the journey which caused a lot of stress and last moment rush. So as soon as I reached Sydney, I decided to spend the first two days relaxing and enjoying a much-needed SPA, unwinding after a stress journey and adjusting to the time zone as Australia is five hrs ... read more

After a good sleep in we begin on what we shall call Em's local adventure. We shop in the local mall for a charger cos Em forgot hers. We also get more food and get back to the hotel and get ready to kick off the night. I had to go collect my debit so i asked Em if she would like to get into a rickshaw for fun. I am sure she regrets when she said yes. 3 hours later we have seen the worst traffic, people driving around like maniacs, non stop honkin, feared for our lives, backs broken from the bad roads and done with being locals. So much fun!!! We pick Sapna from her place and head to Aer bar. It is incredibly beautiful and has amazing views of the city and ... read more

A trip to heaven and back - Himachal Pradesh, India :- As you enter the Himachal Pradesh from Punjab side, you notice a big board put up by HP tourism department – Welcome to “Deo Bhumi”- Land of Gods. It has its own typical high density tourist places like Shimla, Manali, Dharamsala etc but what is still hidden away at other side, is where the real heaven is. This side is open to tourism only for a short period of about 4 months in a year as during rest of the year it remains inaccessible due to heavy snow with temperatures at many places falling below -30*c. This tour is offitially called Kinnaur, Spiti and Lahaul tour, a part Alpine Zone of Greater Himalayas. “Lonely Planet” has ranked it as 2018 one of the ten top ... read more

“Like one of the great God’s in India picked up a Tjernobyl housing project by its roof and dumped it in the backyard of my hotel…” That’s what it felt like, when I went to explore the outdoor gym, off-site from the hotel. It wasn’t much. The field outside the gym was made in to the shape of a baseball diamond, with a spongy track around it filled with potholes. On the side a lonely tennis court that had seen better days, inside a steam room and gym that many of us would gladly walk passed and behind it all, a beige apartment complex with bars on every window, clothes hanging out to dry and rust everywhere. But I was and am adamant to get my exercise I, so until I move hotels, I am fully ... read more

Are flight attendants still living the life? Are there still exclusive airlines that set themselves apart from the rest? There are but not many. It has all turned in to the same goal. Transport as many people as possible, as fast as possible, for as little money as possible and with as little frills as possible. At least that is the story for Air France. It certainly wasn’t a bad flight, not at all but was it good? Was it different? No, not really, it was the same as most of the other major airlines out there. The times of flying, as we knew it 80/90 years ago, is definitely a thing of the past. The glamorous stewardesses, the untouchable destinations. It all came to a grinding halt over the last 30 plus years. Having said ... read more

It was that time of the year again when Swati and I start making plans for our annual summer vacation. Actually it's more of a monsoon vacation as that is the time when our business slips into off season. However it coincides perfectly with the holiday season in Europe. Last year, our travels took us to Switzerland and France where we were accompanied by my childhood friends; the Chitnis's and the Mirajkar's. We had a blast and as is the norm made a pact to travel every summer together. By the time summer turned to winter and winter to spring, the pact was forgotten or buried under the debris of everyday grind and responsibilities. Unfortunately this year Mirajkar's would not be able to make it. So it was going to be Swati and me along with ... read more

This is my first ever blog. 3rd December,2014,a normal weekday in the city of mumbai; a regular working day for everyone.. It had been 7 days since I was stuck in the 4 walls of my house due to my fever. Finally recovered, time to get out of the house. First day out, and the last thing I wanted to do was spend 3 hours in college. This was rather an unplanned ride. Most wouldn't consider this a perfect travel blog entry, since neither does it involve any special destination, nor a real tour; and I would agree with them but then sometimes, even the smallest of travels leave back something to share, and this ride is no different. I set out early morning, about 6:30, regular college time and decided to go bandra instead; companions, My ... read more

Things I Did In Mumbai (Please scroll down to see all the photos) Go see a Bollywood movie: Check Smoke out with The Baba: Check Star in a Bollywood Movie: Check It was nice seeing you Mumbai, but now I'm moving on. Or maybe a little more explanation is in order, here it goes. 1) Go See a Bollywood Movie So I'm hanging out in Mumbai with 2 girls, Belgium and Dutch on a Saturday and they are looking to shop a bit so then we stop in an upscale restaurant to eat. They have an expansive menu, American food, Chinese food, Indian food, Lebanese food, and one other kind I can't recall right now. Trinh, the Dutch girl brings up a fact from Kitchen Nightmares that a place that has everything probably can't do anything ... read more

So here I am sitting in Mumbai. This trip takes me to Asia, starting off in India. How long will it last? Where am I going? I have no precise date to return. I couldn't get the time off I wanted for this trip so I had to think about it for a second and I quit my job. I had saved up for this trip and planned it for almost 2 years (well don't let me lie to you, there was no planning), so when I didn't get the time off I needed I resigned. I have nothing tying me down so I figured I might as well go for it because who knows what could happen if I wait. Now with no date I have to be back I will try to travel for ... read more
