It was nice to be able to just relax and try to warm up from this morning’s jeep ride. I was so cold; it took a few hours to defrost. So even though it was warm when we left for our second safari of the day, I brought my jacket. 😊Lessened learned.
Vivsvat, our naturalist, said that it’s usually rare to see a tiger in the early evening since it’s still warm out and the tigers prefer the cool. With that in mind I prepared myself to enjoy the sights and sounds of the jungle. Hey I was very happy since I saw 2 tigers this morning. There are no elephant tours in the evening so we bounced along in the jeep.
About half way through our tour we met up with another jeep and the guides started talking and pointing in the direction of the grasses to our right. Apparently there was a female tiger with a cub that was lying there. So we pulled up ahead of the other jeep and looked around. There in front of us was a female tiger just watching us. She hung out there letting us take pictures of her until she
was bored with us. That’s when she got up and walked across the jeep path and into the jungle. We waited around for about 10 minutes hoping to see the year old tiger cub but it refused to make an entrance. Oh well, that’s ok.
It was completely amazing! Our second trip out and we saw another tiger! WOW.
We also saw peacocks, Sambar, barking deer, wild boar, and all kinds of birds too.
So Axel, the guy who published the book, and I decided to celebrate our lucky day with a few drinks at dinner. As we were enjoying dinner we could hear the alarm calls from various deer, which is a normal thing to hear since the hotel is just meters from the reserve. One of the female tigers has a territory that runs along the outer perimeter of the reverse right next to the hotel. The next thing we know a tiger roars! So we stop talking and listen, and she roars again this time she sounds closer. So we go up on the roof of the dining hall and listen to her. Each time she roars it sounds like she is closer than
the last time. The workers seem just a little nervous and one even goes to the gate with a flashlight but sees nothing, which is a good thing since if he did he would be in big trouble.
After a while it seems like she has settled down and so we call it a night, 5am comes too early.
When we get up in the morning we find tiger prints in the dirt. Apparently the tiger came to visit us in the night. That’s so cool and just a little scary too. There is a 3 foot stone fence that goes around the perimeter of the reserve, but that is just to keep the cattle from entering the reserve and not to keep the tigers in. Wow.

It appears that you have a knack for attracting tigers... wow!!! It must have felt surreal to be eating dinner and listening to tigers roar out side the window...
