Kerala continued... Vypeen Island and Varkala

I feel like load has happened already since last week! There's been dramas, sun, loads of drinking and backwaters to name a few things.....

On Sunday we got up MEGA early, and took a trip in a rickshaw to meet some dude who took us to the Backwaters (organised by Uncle - the owner of the House, he's not really called Uncle, he's just the nicest and kindest man ever, that he's totally worthy of that name!). It was a 7 hour hour round trip, we saw loads.. toddy tapping, a woman making rope, had some chai with some islanders at their house, went on a canoe.. I've attached a few pics below :)

Monday morning it was time for us to move on and say goodbye to Uncle. We took a 4 hour train to Varkala to some much needed beach action! Varkala is the total opposite of everything we have seen or done so far. Everyone and everything is so completely chilled out. The beach is beautiful... there's beer to drink (though its still illegal here so we have to drink out of bottles wrapped up in newspaper, and the bar staff ask people to hide the bottles under tables!).

On Tuesday morning we had a bit of a drama... our hut got broken in to whilst we were sleeping! Thankfully we're all okay so no need to worry! All our stuff was discovered by the staff sprawled out in the gardens, money had gone, plus my phone and Joanne and Katie's cameras, so I suppose we're luckly that our passports and what not were safe! We had a ride in the back of a police truck thingy, which was fun, and the police station its self was an experience! But anyway... you deal with it, move on and carry on having fun, but be more aware of things!

We're spending a week here, we love it! There's not much else to do other than chill out, meet new people and swim in the sea, but right now that's perfect! We've met some lovely people here, and we're loving the Chill Out bar (our new local)! Anyway, I've put some pics up on Facebook... Im struggling to upload pics to here in this internet cafe... next move is maybe Goa, or a beach that LOADS of people have recommened, so who knows, but I'll update you all soon
