It's been a while hasn't it. I've finally found a cafe that you can upload photos etc without powercuts/camel strikes/overheating/corrupting memory cards!! It was starting to do my head in a little and I don't fancy spending hours adding photos to Facebook when I get back to the UK.
Lots has been going on, we've spent alot of time at the beach too, it's FARKINGGG hot here now, I have been sweating for weeks now I can't remember what it's like not to. I'm not alone which is good, everyone looks...well....wet, all the time!
We took a train south of Goa to Gokarna and met some guys on the train (and some cockroaches) who recommended Kudley Beach, nice and quiet, we thought a couple of days would suffice but ended up spending about 10 days there, so cheap we were eating 3 meals a day, like kings for 500 rupees (about 7 or 8 quid) Went Kayaking and saw dolphins - Absolutely shit ourselves when we saw the fins out of the water, instant reaction was SHARK! We were out at sea alone and was an amazing sight!
So generally a lazy 10 days there, people were actually renting out their homes in Europe and living on Kudley beach to save money. (huts from 100 rupees a night)
Other Gokarna bits:
Gecko Fighting - (No Idea why, like a Friday night outside Elements)
More Antibiotics - (Stomach Parasite, feeds off dairy, absolute screamer!)
Happy Mothers Day Mum - (Powercuts and lack of internet cafes meant I couldn't email home)
Beard Trimmer Pick Pocketed - (I have a beard, I don't like it, but it looks funny so we'll see how long it lasts.)
Russian Delhi Belly - (We could hear the guy next door gurgling from his bum making 'ahhhhhhhh' noises, horrible. Really enthusiastic English people who know how your feeling asking you 'How's your day going?' classic. He didn't look impressed)
Argentinians - (Fun football, volleyball, MAN TIME on the beach - Face Face said I turned into a naughty little boy, going out to play without suncream on and making lots of noise....)
Face Face Olympics - (Basically me seeing how high I can shotput/hammerthrow/javelin and dunk her into the water, I had lots of fun but Face Face got her hair wet, Oh no!)
So we left Gokarna (reluctantly) and took a 13 hour overnight train to Kochi in Kerala, it was very touristy but went to these old Chinese fishing nets and had to barter for fish, then take it to a restaurant where they cook it for you, it was the most amazing Red Snapper ever and I have the photos to prove it!
I've started to read a little bit, Face Face is currently reading a book bigger than me and I like to keep it simple reading stuff like 'The Jungle Book', Is there a phobia of reading a book with more that 180 pages?
Stayed in guesthouse 'Geo Maria' in Kochi, it had air con which was amazing, a little more expensive but fridge like. The last night we asked to not have the air con (because I'd worked out how to turn it on without the key) George the owner (75 year old in a skirt) came up to the room as he could hear the machine was running, knocked and we didn't answer, so he let himself in!! We played dead pretending to be asleep on the bed, shaking with muted laughter as you do, then had to pretend to be all tired, disorientated and act confused as to why the air con was in full flow. It was one of those 'you had to be there moments' but so funny at the same time!!
We went on a backwater cruise trip too which was nice, met this mental 50 year old UK based Indian lady who was off her nut, rebelling leaving her family at home, I could sense the limpit like personality and we sacked that one right off and left for Allapey.
Allapey was a small town which basically thrives off tourists to go on these backwater tours, we had done one already in Kochi so ended up wandering around the canals, decided to give some pens and bouncy balls out to all the kids (as pens is all they seem to ask for) and met the local nursery school teacher. Got invited to her 'gaffe' for Chai and Bananas and agreed to go spend the day at her school the next day, this was probably the most 'involved' we got during our time in India and the kids were well funny, being taught from 3 years old in English too! We had to almost do a runner in the end as the teacher wanted us to stay another day, stay at her house, eat with her whole family, which was nice but we had to move on.
Allapey was nice, not to touristy and had the best curry's in 'Thaff' a family run cafe/restaurant. Yummy. Saw the biggest electrical storm in my life and as a result am now seeing the biggest insects of my life!
We're now in our last place before we fly to Mumbai again for our flight to Thailand on April fools. Varkala, much like Goa with lots of shacks and restaurants. Massive beach and lots of westerners. We're staying in a government guesthouse which is a bit prison like, big rooms but the men are really bossy, I'm going to offer each and every one of them a cuddle before I leave and just suggest they let it all off, perhaps leave them a packet of biscuits and some tissues.
Temple festival tonight which will be interesting, over the top and quite perverted for Face Face as these events always are, we've been hearing the test firework displays at all times of the day and night (really early and really late) so It should be a good one, I hope.
Sh*t the geezer wants to close the cafe......
Speak to you in Thailand! Yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!xx
