Our housekeeper A lovely friend, whom has come to India several times asked me why I was coming to India, what my intention was. I told her it was...Love. She questioned me on the vastness of that and would I not like something less broad. I think love is enough, not that I will not possibly organically come up with inspirations that lead me into varying experiences. Love it is, as simple and grand as it is.
First stop is Rasa Ayurvedic Clinic for Women. I am here for 14 days to strengthen my lungs, panchkarma (cleansing) and rejuvenation. I am in Beautiful Kerala at the southwestern tip near Trivinandrum. We are close to the ocean, which I will visit yet can't see from the clinic. There is a river here that the men bath in. A couple of the ladies and I went down by the river and several men were getting un-dressed while staring at us to leave them in privacy. The people here, especially the women and children as so friendly. The kids approach and ask me my name, the women smile with beautiful white teeth and bobble their heads from side to side, they are dressed so beautifully,
with make-up and adornments on their foreheads and throats, lots of gold, earrings and bracelets. Motorcycles are most common. If I knew how to ride I would rent one, as the weather here is quite humid, it would be glorious. Maybe I will have an opportunity to ride as a passenger. I have seen several women ride sitting side-saddle with their sari's enrobed. I have had 2 days of treatment, the first was a hot oil massage, I am no longer humble...at least in the company of these practitioners whom are amazing. They have us wear a loin cloth and everywhere is massaged by 2 therapists. I had a scalp massage as well, then steam. I was so jet lagged after dinner I fell asleep at 730pm and woke after 5am to do my meditation practice.
The food here is very healing, tasty, mild spice, lots of coconut milk. The coconuts and bananas grow all around. I have had the best bananas ever, even better than the apple bananas I have had in Hawaii. Today after breakfast I developed a headache that lasted the greater part of the day, it is quite hazy today and the light was really affecting
my eyes. Had a dry massage treatment with dried herbs in a powder form, was quite interesting, helps to detox through the skin.
I am now on Ghee for my third day. Its a medicinal form of clarified butter, the one I am taking is green and looks like something from Shrek, it helps to lubricate the internal organs, strengthen the aura, heal the eyes, there are so many functions for it. I have to wait to eat for usually about 6 hours after as to digest. I am on a plain diet of rice soup with mung beans and coconut chutney...all made here and so good. Tonight is my second oil bath in a spicy smelling red oil, then I have oil dripped on my forehead, which is divine. All in all I feel really good, enjoying being here so much in such a healing nurturing atmosphere among women, and nature.
