I have moved into my apartment...got my independence on Indian Independence Day!
Checked out of hotel on Friday, had a driver for the day so headed off to electrical shops. Thought this would have been pretty straight forward but nope! The driver didn’t speak English, so I called one of my students so translate. She then said that the driver didn’t speak Hindi so she was going to get her husband to call. He then called and spoke to the driver in the local language f Kannada and we were off!
Found some electrical shops, then ended up at a mall where and then my new apartment. I arrived to find one security guard, two delivery men with a washing machine and fridge and no agent or landlord. Then, on usual Indian time keeping, the landlord had sent her driver with the keys.
We got in, checked everything over, they installed the items plus tried to explain that a man would come tomorrow to service me!!, my agent explained that there was no lock so I have to padlock the apartment and, home sweet home, I was in!
Despite the landlord’s maid having spent a day cleaning,
I then spent another two days re-cleaning and throwing out the fake flowers and general tat. The wee man from LG turned up to ‘service me’ and put on my first washing load, which I later discovered was so harsh that it has ripped most of my clothes!
Slept pretty well as its quite quiet which is excellent. Only woke to monsoon rain which was mad and is getting drastically worse each night, I now have a swimming pool in my beautifully cleaned balcony.
Apart from the apartment news all is well here in BangTheDoor. Not much happened for Independence Day due to swine flu scares but lots of flags up everywhere.
Hope everyone is well. Back to work xx
Guest Roomthis has improved too and double bed coming so those who visit...this is your room!
LaundretteThis is where LG may offer to 'service' you!
