Heylo! Landed in Bangalore this morning after a stop in Bahrain, where I was accompanied by another person doing the project the whole way. We were picked up and I was dropped off at my accommodation which is a room shared with another girl doing a similar project to me. The big modern and sparkling clean house belongs to Shirley who is very lovely and makes us breakfast, packed lunch and dinner every day! There are two other bedrooms in her house with two volunteers in each.
Here are a few of the people I am with every day!
So far I think India is amazing, it is full of the most beautiful colours and smells and sounds, even though everyone says that - tis true!
My room mate, a lovely Italian girl and another house mate who's parents are originally from Inidia take me into the streets of Bangalore. You can walk in the road as long as you look important - everything drives round you - and each other! Then we catch a auto rickshaw which is like a moped with three seats at the back with a hood into the centre of the city. It feels like a fun fair ride, not the daily commute vehicle I must get used to!
Pretty cows saunter around on the streets as mopeds cars and auto rickshaws bomb past them carefully. There are lush fresh flowers everywhere, sometimes in lines across the road, but manily round necks and in hair.
I can constantly hear the sound of frantic beeps and horns outside but there isnt any road rage, the traffic is so fast and chaotic yet it all fits perfectly together.
Everyone is so interesting to watch, I am finding it hard not to stare!
These are the first things I have seen since entering Bangalore, I hope very much to keep you updated often on what I get up to at work at Rave magazine where I start on Monday, and my travels at weekends with the rest of the project group.
Tooodles Cle
