The Journey
Montreal to Paris
Big thanks to Cara for putting me and the cats up for the last week and Carrie and Liba for the ride to the airport! And big hugs to Farhad, Su Mi, Cara and Shu Ching for helping me out with my last minute cat crisis.
The flight to Paris was comme une garderie! In other words, screaming children everywhere. Thank goodness for strong tail winds that made the trip just under 6 hours.
Paris to Bangalore
Lucky for me, I met a a street theatre group travelling from Montreal to Bangalore, law and drama students from Concordia promoting human rights through performance. They adopted me for the rest of the trip and were a great help navigating through airports. Thank Diptee!
Just prior to take off one of the passengers became ill, so a doctor had to be called. By the time they had removed the person and their luggage from underneath, we had all been sitting on that plane for about two and a half hours, making what was supposed to be a nine and a half hour flight twelve hours!
At least I made a friend on the flight. Rutu, one of the cutest five year olds and seasoned travelers I have ever met, gave me some great travel tips for Bangalore since she had been there before. She also tried to teach Eve Auntie a few words in Hindi and Spanish, and I reciprocated with a little French. Sadly I think her French may have been better than mine!
Even though we arrived in Bangalore at around 3:30 local time, it took over an hour to claim luggage and clear customs. But the helpful street theatre group and their hosts from Christ College bundled me in with them and helped me to find my campus and residence.
So after 24 hours on the road it is finally bed time in Bangalore. Yawn
