First of all some good news: I went by the Travel Agency last week-end, two more people joined to the trek, this is in favour of confirming the departure.
And even in the worst case where less than two additional people join before the end of May, I took an option on a similar, but shorter, trek where enough people have already suscribed.
So, here is the planning as given by the Agency:
- Day 1 and 2: Paris - New Delhi - Leh by plane
- Day 3 and 4 a few days tourism around Leh, to get used to the altitude
- Day 5: Leh - Lamayaru by bus
- Day 6: beginning of the "real" trek from Lamayuru, heading West then South
- Day 11: first mountain pass in Murgum (4420m)
- Day 14: we follow along the Zanskar River
- Day 16: arrival in Padum, the largest town in Zanskar (1000 inhabitants)
- Day 23: highest mountain pass in Shingo La (5052m)
- Day 26: last day of the trek and arrival in Manali
- Day 27 and 28: train from Malani to Chandigarh then Delhi
- Day 29: back to Paris
