oops! Also, in Langkawi we so boldly parasailed above Langkawi's beach! Sorry, forgot to mention that!
Hi everyone. It's me Alia. We're now in India's Kashmir, the far north, near the famous Himalayas. Surprisingly, it's freeeeeeezing here, unlike the rest of India! But let me start from way back when, on our last day in Indonesia. Somehow (it had something to do with visa extentions) we ended up in Malaysia instead of being in Indonesia for two more weeks.
First we took a cockroach- infested piece of junk with a motor, to Georgetown, a city on an island called Penang. We stayed for a few days doing basically nothing but errands, eating and sleeping, our break from Sumatra's"get up and go". Then after about three days (and a lot of deciding and debating), we made our way to Langkawi, a small island just outside of Penang.
Spending 5 or 6 days there we, of course rented motorcycles, and occasionally went for a spin. We also had a very nice beach right next to our hotel, pretty much swimming every chance we could. Another day, we took the motorbikes to a cable car which we all thought was beautiful, as it had a great view of Langkawi, even past it! But our mistake
was taking a ferry to a patch of land in Langkawi that turned out to be what seemed like where everyone in Langkawi dumped their trash. None of us wanted to swim in the oily, dirty water. ! Anyways, after Lankawi we flew real cheap to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia's Bombay.
We only had a day in KL, because we had to fly to Delhi the next day, stay two nights and then fly to Kashmir. But with the Bhimji's you need a day to figure out the city, so in our case, we really couldn't do much. Making the best of it we visited KL's famous Petronas twin towers, two gigantic structures, connected by a glass passageway on the 42 floor. We explored around the building finding out it had a shopping mall, making mom's day. That's all we really had time for, when we came home it was time for bed, and we had an airplane to catch the next day.
I'll write about Kashmir later! From Alia
The Petronas Twins[Did you know?] if you look at this angle towards the two towers, one looks taller than the other, but in reality, the two are the same height.
