Pobudka 4 rano. Cisza spokoj i relaks. Sprzedawcy klocili sie o cene wage i ilosc.

Lysiak do obrony przed wyimaginowanymi kaszmirskimi zbojnikami cala noc w reku dzierzyla gumowa latarke. Zrobila nawet kilka cwiczen rozgrzewajacych.

Jamil. Hi, we had come back from Leh at 11:45 pm, so then we all were very tired because of the bumpy track in the car. Anyway, the next day we took a tour through the canals and went to a papier mache shop and got some little things like papier mache elephants and turtles. Then we came back and we fished for just little fish in the afternoon but then came night fall and we ate dinner, don't worry, it was not fish! Then after dinner we got to fish some more and I caught 2 medium fish about as wide as my head. But Alia did not catch any so that was not good but we are going fishing tomorrow night. I hope she will catch some tomorrow night. Today we went to ... read more

My third day in Srinagar consisted of a one-day excursion into the Himalayas. I woke up to find the mountains completely invisible behind a wall of cloud, but no-one seemed to think that this would matter. On the way, my driver said we would stop at a market - in reality this consisted of driving into a bustling village and him bringing me tea while i sat in the car. When we got to wherever we were going (I'm not sure if it actually was sonumarg or not) he handed me over to a guide, who set off up the mountain at a speed fast enough to get the bends. I managed to match him until the path got really steep. As usual, my heart and lungs started complaning long before my legs, and I was ... read more

Hi everyone! Finally, having a bit more spare time, we squeezed in a short writing period right after our breathtaking (but cold) Himalayan trek. First, let me tell you how we got to Srinagar from KL. The morning after our last day in Kuala Lumpur, we flew back to Delhi, this time not for long. In fact, we really didn't want to come, considering it was over 42 degrees celsius!! Anyway, being forced to stay there two nights we whizzed around town in a non- AC rickshaw, five of us cramped in the tiny back seat, sweating like mad. Then, after two days, we took yet another plane to Srinagar, Kashmir. Back in Delhi, we had booked a house boat with a friendly man who had told us the boat was brand new and never ... read more

Samir's article. The gas in your lungs, the droppings on your shoes. That's the Himalayas for ya. Just yesterday we finished a 5 day trek in the Himalayas (the pain!) so you can probably guess there's a lot to tell. Day 1: We drove up a mountain, through some creeks and streams (thank god for land rovers) to get to a place for equipment and such. Then we set off with a parade of ponies and an army of guides. That day we just went around the mountain to have lunch, then came back to stay for the night. Alia managed to get kicked by a horse and bit by a dog (she has such a way with animals) and we all got attacked by a cloud of bees. There were also some ruins, great ... read more

Hi, it's Beth, which you can probably tell from the title since I am the one who recently turned a year older. Could have titled it "We're not as young as we think we are or would like to be..." Really just trying to convey how stiff and sore I am since returning from trekking just yesterday. Both Azim and I were feeling our age and a little nostalgic for those days 20 years ago when we could trek through the Himalayas in Nepal for three weeks with large packs on our backs. Not so anymore...Now we trek with a caravan of 11 horses, 2 foals and 8 guides-all to carry our equipment, set up camp, cook our meals and on and on. We felt a bit spoiled but it seems to be the way ... read more

Samir's article. On our last day on Langkawi, we went on a cable car up a mountain that had a suspension bridge. The view was great, but you should have seen Dad shake! The next day we went back to Georgetown and rented a car. We went to a steep mountain car, and a butterfly farm. The day after we flew to Kuala Lumpur, the main city of Malaysia. We basically ate, slept, and shopped there. (When don't we?) Now we're in India (again) and a day back we were in Delhi. We found a guy there who insisted we trust him, so we did and reserved a house boat from him. So now we're in Srinagar, Kashmir, famous for it's lakes, mountains... oh yes, and war. Not really a blow-up-everything-in-sight war, but close enough. ... read more

Hi, it's Jamil. Well we're back in India but it is not so bad because I think it is the houseboat ( it is one day old) we are in. We were not so sure at first because of Allepy and the houseboat we rented there. But this one does not move and we can still smell the cedar they used to build the boat. They even have chandeliers for lights! It has a living room, a diningroom, 5 bedrooms but we rented only 2. The first day there we did a lake tour. First they took us to a small island where the only thing you do there is dress up in costumes to be people that do not fit my style. Then next we went to a floating mosque that mom does not ... read more
