Waiting for the TrainThis is the village square where we waited for the train to pass through at Majorda.
We stayed local on Saturday and in the morning we walked down the beach to Majorda, a couple of villages along the coast. We desperately wanted some photographs of the Trans India trains so we waited at the train station to get some of it coming through Majorda Station. We waited on a bench under the shade of a coconut tree amongst dozens of school children, all dressed in their uniforms and waiting for the local bus (they must have school on Saturday mornings over here). After about half and hour, an express train came through and we got some photos as it roared through tiny Majorda Station (nothing more than a hut selling tickets). The beach walk back the hotel was great and we saw some dolphins in the sea. They were about 100 yards out and we watched them as they went along the coast. It was really nice to see- a real treat.
We cooled off by the pool for a couple of hours in the afternoon and then went to the spa. We each had a one-hour treatment called a "Nasyam": designed to clear the sinuses, ease congestion and relieve tense back, shoulder and neck muscles.
It also consisted of some essential oil based drops being put in the nose. They were really decongesting. Kate described it as the nasal equivalent of a colonic irrigation (not that she's ever had one!). I must say, it really cleared the tubes.
To round off a great day, we ate at Goan restaurant at the hotel and it was delicious. We had Goan cheese and potato croquettes to start and they came with a delicious green chilli dip. Then we had two dishes (a mushroom curry dish and a pumpkin coconut curry) with Goan rice- all delicious. India is an extremely easy place to be a veggie with at least 50% of all menu choices being veggie.
