Seriously this seems very far away to me. In reality it's approximately 45 minutes outside of Hyderabad - a city of ~8 million
The home houses ~145 kids and 20 women, all who have come from destitute situations. All of the kids who come to CHI, come under the age of 6 and generally have no family or the family is too poor to care for them or in some cases are handicap and can't. CHI keeps the child thru the completion of high school and works to train them so that they can get decent jobs in life. A few of the bright, overachieving kids, are selected to go on for higher education. All supported by generous donors across the globe. As an intern, I will be working with the local staff, helping out with homework/tutoring, schedule and routine, improving their english and general help around the home. This property has been fortunate enough to build a brand new building that will house the boys sleeping quarters and provide much needed extra space for day to day living.
