Jade Market entrance
"Welcome in several languages" I love going to the jade market. You can find jewelry of all kinds made with onyx, pearl, quartz, jade and maaaaaaaany more choices.
Unlike the jewelry, the market is located in this giant shack so it's not very attractive but that's probably a good thing - so they won't attract too many attention. Bargaining is expected and necessary at the jade market. I've been away for so long that I'm not familiar with the value of a jade, pearl or whatever stones are out there but it's so much fun to learn about it. My mom goes to this one particular stall to buy their jewelry and the sellers are very helpful. People might say that the sellers are not to be trusted because they give ridiculous asking prices but the key is to build a relationship with them, go back often and perhaps refer them to friends. Then they know you can be trusted and they'll give you fair prices.
For some reason, I am always so nervous of taking pictures of the stalls in markets like the Jade market. I've been yelled at before and I believe it's mostly because they don't want other businesses to
copy their design so taking a picture is a way for competitors to copy each other.
After the jade market, we walked to the MTR and on the way I, once again, saw some odd things which can be gross so prepare yourself.
