TsimShaTsui
Star Ferry Jetty. After a good nite sleep I felt so fresh n all excited. Mark already left for work and Phui was up feeding the babe. Hee hee. Not use to seeing her being so motherly.
After having breakie, me started my adventure in HK. Will do TST (Tsim Sha Tsui) as there is a tourist info center there.
What a lucky gal i am. Phui's place is like in the centre between TST and MongKok. It just took me 20 Mins walk to reach the tourist info centre which is located at the Star Ferry Jetty.
It was a little confusing taking the SubWay (underground tunnel walkway). Make sure you ask the people around. Sometimes they can be unfriendly and even nasty especially if u can't speak a little cantonese. But I was lucky as the couple I asked was willing to bring me to the right exit and spoke English.
Duh! then I found out, I actually can cross the traffic which would have save me some time n energy 😊 Anyway, the journey to the StarFerry Pier @ TST was just walking in a straight road till the end.
One the way there are many shopping
Wedding Shoot
Happy couple @ Jetty complexes. Both standard and luxurious shopping places. Surprisingly HongKong is not an early starters. Shops normally starts at 1100 - 1130 but most closes @ 2330!!
AAaa HardRock Cafe.. made a mental note to visit it on the way back.
Saw a line of ppl waiting ... At first I thought free stuff? hmm.. Nope it's ppl waiting to get into Gucci shop ... just like in the movie ...
Finally reached the StarFerry Pier!
Welcoming there was a happy couple taking their wedding photos. A very same culture we have in Malaysia. But they are luckier as the weather was superb. I can't help but stole a snap shot of the sunny pair.
There is a shopping complex - Habour City but I didnt go in as I was more interested in the outdoors and people than shopping.
Go straight to the TIC / Tourist Info Centre. Grab all those maps and walk guides as there are very useful. They are my bible to HK besides my trusty LP.
Note : Specifically ask for Heritage Trail guide (Ping Shan, etc) as they dont display it on the rack. Dont ask me why...
DingDong
Old Clock Tower @ TST First attraction on my trail is the former TST KCR terminus old Clock Tower which doesnt really look old as it contructed in 1913. It sits in the compound of the Cultural Centre which is a much nicer attraction with its curved design.
The day was hazy. I was only able to see the outlines of the skyscrapers on HK Island side. However the Avenue of Stars was not a let down. It's a simple harbor walk-way with all the cheesy tourist attractions but it's still FUN 😊 You get to see, be and meet STARS 😊
Note: Be there early and you get to take nice shots with the props and scenes.
After the Avenue of Stars, I was like free-styling. 1/2 the time I didnt know where I was but I was still enjoying myself soaking in the atmosphere and cool weather.
I took a photo of one part of the HK Museum of Art having giant posters of HK past. It was interesting as there were HK past, present (sky high buildings) and future (in making with the cranes n stuff).
I crossed over the bridge leaving behind the harbour towards the busy

streets until later I had to whip up my map when I was in Moby Road. Not a great map reader, me, I gave up after 5 minutes. Cant see any landmarks to tell me which side of Moby Road I was in. This time I was a wee bit panicky ... cos my tummy was growling. It was almost 2 pm. THen a familiar one alphabet shines n bacon (hee hee) me to it. M for McD.....
When I was asked "Eating in or take away" in broken english, I decided, HEY! I'll do picnic in that park opposite 😊 Stuff you can do anytime in HK with it's nice weather n clean parks and seats. I didnt know i would love HK so much. It gives me sense of safety and freedom - eating anywhere I like.
It turn out to be a fabulous lunch N I finally regained my location. The nice park is the UC Centenary Garden and it has this fabulous Six pillars of the former railway (as with the Clock Tower) and a fountain.
Beware of a man begging for money. He came up to me 3 times!! After lunch, energy's back
STAR in the Making
I was talent-spotted. Had my very first ACTION!
and decided to brave the hoardes of ppl building up. Again I was walking aimlessly but taking note of the Street names. They can be quite confusing and hard to notice. (What's with the small and passable road signs?!! Should be in bright blue or green so it is eye catching but NO ... it had to be in white .... )
Then loomed in front of me is the ChungKing Mansions. It is not really an attractive building but with its haphazard look it was quite an eyesore - at least to me. Dont think it would be a great idea for those single lady traveller. A short walk will take you to the Park Lane Shopper's Blvd which was not really impressive.
Wow! A mosque in the middle of Kowloon where chinese dominated. And its rather huge. I missed a photo oppotunity as I was too lazy to retrive my camera. Next to it there were steps leading up to a "KungFu Park" which is actually part of the Kowloon Park. It was quite a climb - puff puff all the way!
Walau eh! THen I was greeted by aunties n uncles doing the famous
STARs Crew
STARs on breakie ... CREW on workie... ultraman pose. Hee hee they were actually doing some taichi moves. There were some scrulptures and loads of green. There's a short maze too with the sky-scrappers as the background. Lovely!
SASA!! Aaa. Time to shop for perfumes. THey were really cheap and discounts were fantabulous. Got 1 for mom, Phui and 2 for meself! Got the EA Green tea parfum 100ml for less than RM100!! Sales girls werent that friendly thinking I was some punk testing out the parfumes until I pick some up. Then I was treated differently. I hate these standards... Bill end up to me around 999 😊 Nice numbers 😊
Some more wanderings got be back on Canton Rd. from Nathan Rd. Aaa familiar places. Drop by HardRock Cafe to grab some overpriced Tees and cap. Missed another photo oppoturnity of the HR neon guitar...
Then it is around 15-20 mins walk back to Phui's place with hot dinner ready.
