We're here! Safe and mostly sound in Hong Kong. Thanks for re-routing to this blog; a shared blog is much more conducive to shared internet cafe fees and computer time. Plus, it's double the commentary and hopefully double the comments!
Last night, after a 15 hr plane ride, we made our way from Hong Kong International Airport to our hostel --via double decker shuttle bus--located in what is described by the Lonely Planet Guide to China as the "infamous" Chungking Mansions. Navigating our way through the 1st floor maze of vendors, suit touts and falafel stands was an experience to say the least, but we eventually located our quaint and far from infamous guesthouse.
We spent today riding the Star Ferry between Hong Kong Island and Kowloon (where our hostel is) and checked off our first objective, applying for visas. We plan to stay here in HK for about 4 or so days until our visas are ready to go.
Our next order of business is to find Cody some new glasses as they were somehow destroyed . . . on the plane! whoops.
The City glows. Nothing prepared us for this degree of hustle and bustle. It's amazing.
Tomorrow we plan to enjoy the 80deg. weather and trek around the highest point in HK, Victoria's peak. Much more to come...
P.S. Have we mentioned that comments rule? Thank you for your kind words so far.

You made it! Congratulations! Good luck finding glasses Cody!
I am so glad you two made it safely!!!! It already sounds beautiful, Steph. Code--bummer about the glasses! Seriously though, the glasses in China are probably cheaper and much sweeter :)

Hi Guys!
Thank you so much for your post. Even though I've signed up to be notified of new entries, I still check your blog everyday just in case...what a dork I am.
Anyway, I am wayyy curious to hear the story of how you get new glasses, Cody.
Was the visa process laborious? Is it for 4 months?
More, more, more, please!

Hi Stephanie & Cody....although only the start, your great adventure already sounds like just that...A"great adventure". I'm quite envious. I'm looking forward to Thanksgiving (especially when I don't have to cook!) It's my most favorite meal. I'm a fan of the Food Network, so am curious about the cuisine there and what you've sampled thus far. Take care...can't wait to hear more.(it's 65 degrees here today)......Love Aunt Becky..p.s. the pics are great!
HEy guys!! I'm just getting to your blog now....it sounds like you are having an AMAZING experience already! Those pictures really make me want to go there...maybe we will have to have the 2nd annual womens retreat (and cody) there! I miss you guys!
