I haven't updated for awhile because the last week in Sydney was so hectic, with my parents visiting and all. Here are some of the highlights:
- Blue Mountains and the Jenolan Caves. AMAZING. I'm on my dad's computer right now, but I will upload photos when I get my computer hooked up over here.
- The Sleeping Beauty ballet - went to see it with my mom. It was so beautiful, I have a new appreciation for ballet... the last one I went to was Swan Lake and quite ashamedly, I fell asleep.
- Multitudes of restaurants - The Tearoom, at the top of the QVB building, where I had the most amazing duck.. Fish at the Rocks where we celebrated my dad's birthday.. and all sorts of other surprises like going to find the best hot chocolate and fruit salad (not together) in Sydney.
It was really sad leaving.. I haven't completely ruled it out as a place to live like I did at the start of my trip. I met some magical people and I am so utterly grateful that my parents were generous enough to let me go and "find myself". I have a lot to think about now concerning my future and it's exhilarating to have choices and people that I can count on. Trip back here was somewhat uneventful. I'm gearing up to face the winter in Canada, and one more year of school. Will most likely spend Christmas in Sydney next year - so it definitely does have a place in my heart.
I'm getting ready go to go dessert buffet at the Hyatt tonight - chocolate fountain, fresh fruit, 15 types of cake, chinese desserts, crepes, waffles, ice cream... plus I get to see my Melly and Caroline again!! These girls have been through everything with me since first year uni. Then Care and I are hitting Lan Kwai Fong and.. oh shoot, biscotti almost burned.
My mum has enlisted me to make biscotti for friends and colleagues, so I've been in the kitchen all day, relishing the task. 10 months and only touching a stove twice has been quite difficult! Anyways, yes, Lan Kwai Fong... on a Tuesday night. I know - quite sad. But apparently some HKISers are going to be around there too! It's just like old times.
What to wear, what to wear... some shopping tips for anyone in Hong Kong:
- Pedder building: I bought the most beautiful Diane von Furstenberg dress yesterday. Orange, silk and chiffon... for $600!
Hmm. That's all I have for now. Spoke to the roommates and to Corey, whose birthday it is today. Good to know they're all doing well in the Christmas season. I will be back soon enough, to keep planning my future trips.
Ciao for now.
