After a bit of a sleep in this morning and another fried breakfast we decided to head over to Hong Kong Island. We took the Star Ferry over the harbour with PJ and started walking - Graham is so glad that he did all that preparation before leaving :).
We made it to the Western Market where Michelle showed great restrain and made it to the second stall before she bought a nice silver pendant. We then headed up the hill - mountain would be a better word we think - to have a look at the Man Mo temple. We then headed into SOHO for a bite of lunch and to ride the worlds longest escalator.
We made it to the Zoological and Botanical Gardens where we saw some cool little monkeys and lemurs. It was now off to The Peak via the Peak Tram. Whilst ridding the tram it pays to keep in mind that it has a flawless safety record since 1888 as it literally hauls you up the side of a mountain by a single steel cable - very steep.
When we got to the top we were rewarded with some breath taking 360
views of HK. After descending and making it back to the hotel it was time for a short nanny nap.
For our evening entertainment we decided to go out to the the Temple St night markets. To get there we caught the MTR - HK subway - and discovered where all the people had gone to :). The MTR is amazing, a whole little underground city, wow. Not only was it very fast, cheap and clean the whole system is air-conditioned and has moving escalators.
Temple st markets were mostly selling junk but the experience was fantastic. We had a great dinner from a street vendor before we called it a night.
