Hot as Honkers

Well, the Hong Kong leg of the trip is done and dusted. Off to London tomorrow. Honkers has been kind to us. It's been hot but not too oppressively so.

Hong Kong in a word was...HECTIC! It's intense. The city is jammed with people. I guess this impression is borne of the fact that we pretty much didn't leave downtown HK. The one day we did venture out of the city to the south of Hong Kong island, we drove through lush tropical rainforest, which was really cool. That was the day we went to the American Club, of which one of my former bosses (John) who is living in HK, is a member. He and his wife Alison were fantastic. We spent a fair amount of time with them enjoying the fineries of HK. The rest of the time was 100% shopping. We're both now finely tuned haggling machines.

So if you expect a colourful description of the sights of HK, you ain't gettin' one, because we didn't see any. Yes, that's right, not one goddamn tourist sight. I can honestly say that this is the first OS destination I've been to where I've done ZERO sightseeing. Fleur's bag is of course at capacity now, 4 days into a 5 week trip, despite my sobering words, "Don't forget you've got another 5 weeks to shop". Obviously those words fell on deaf ears.

We went out one night to an area (or street?) known as Lan Kwai Fong near Central. It's a strip of bars that was just going off. It felt a little like Bourbon Street in New Orleans. People hanging out on the street just having a bloody good time. Fleur found heaven in a bar called 'Agave', which of course had a menu replete with about 100 different Tequila cocktails. And yes, we got pissy that night. Made for a nice hangover the next day.

Off to London in the morning via a 14 hour flight. Nice. Looking forward to it. AAARRGGHHHH!!!
