In the old town there were displays of flowers everywhere
Lijiang

By Chinese Standards Lijiang is small a city of only 400,000. It is also one of the few cities where the Han Chinese are a minority; 8% of Chinese belong to one of 35 different minorities. Lijiang is considered the capital of the Naxi, descendent from Tibetan nomads who settled the area more than a thousand years ago. Despite the Chinese governments protestations that everything is great, when we left the airport the driver had to stop at a checkpoint and show our passports, the hotel kept them overnight and when we toured the next day we were told to take our passports with us. This had not happened in other city.

On the 22nd we were off to visit Baisha Village, the Naxi village of Yuhu, and to take a bus ride and then a cable carried up to Yak Meadow, so named because the local people like to pasture their yaks there. Yak Meadow is located at more than 11,000 feet about 1,500 higher than Lijiang

Thank you, the scenery was great. If this had been in North America I would have gone hiking, but not a good idea in China, particularly close to Tibet.
