The teracotta army...

Als je dan toch in het noorden van China bent staat er in de boekje als hoogtepunt het teracotta-leger van Xi'an. Het viel ons een beetje tegen dat de rijen soldaten niet zolang waren als de rijen 'chinese' touristen die voor de deuren stonden.. We dachten dat er rijen en rijen soldaten te zien zouden zijn, toch waren er nog een heleboel bedekt onder de aarde.. Hiermee hebben we wel een belangrijk en bijzonder stukje van de geschiedenis van China gezien.

Luoyang

Als onderbreking van de reis naar Shanghai zijn we hier gestopt om de Longmen Caves te zien. Net als de Yungang Caves in Datong alleen dan aan een brede rivier en groter (1km in de rotswand met uitgehouwen gaten en buddha's... ... Helaas is er in de loop van de tijd wel veel weggeroofd (vooral veel buddha hoofden ontbraken)
