Jun 3, 2009 Quite simply, stay here. Don't stay anywhere else unless (like me) you can't hike TLG in a day (and in that case I recommend Half Way Guesthouse). Sean is the original pioneer of the gorge, the most famous man in the gorge, owner of tigerleapinggorge.com and a really nice guy! Rooms are great, good value - but this isn't about price and rooms when you're in the world's steepest gorge, it's about the entire experience and when you're sitting at Sean's staring at the cliffs watching the sun set you'll know exactly what I mean. Sean is the legend of TLG and it would be un-gorge like to part with your hard earned RMB anywhere else. DO NOT STAY AT TINA'S GUESTHOUSE!!

The bedroom... my camera didn't capture it all.
Sean's GH is, in my opinion, the best way to BEGIN your gorge trek! (this way you won't have to hike up the dreaded 24 bends, only down). We splurged for one of the nice rooms and it was REALLY nice! Freshly decorated with an earthy feel and the mattress was so comfortable! Sean uses foam mattresses on his beds instead of the hard, springy boards that poke into your back. This was a godsend for me!
The view from the courtyard is breathtaking. You can even hike down to the river through the beautiful farmland if you want to get an up-close view of the Yangtze.
Sean speaks perfect English and loves to sit with you and chat over coffee or the wonderful food that his daughter cooks up. He is a very jovial man with progressive views on China. It's interesting to hear his stories.
This was an experience I would not miss!

Apr 12, 2009 We recommend the Sean's Spring Guesthouse in the Tigre Leap. It was just great. Also we did some hike together with Sean and we enjoyed very much. If you like to hike, then this adventure must be on your agenda. The scenery and the beauty of this Tigre leap it's so amazing. You can also stay in his guesthouse for 2 days and only relax and enjoy the landscape. The rooms are also very good equipped.
Thanks to Sean and hope to see you again!

We hiked the high trial in the Gorge with Sean as our guide. We then recovered by staying overnight at his Sean's Spring Guest House in the small village of Walnut Garden. His guest house has clearly evolved over the many years that he has been the #1 guide in the Gorge. The place has authentic charm. And there is a tabby cat who likes to sit on your lap while you sit in the courtyard. If you like a little luxury, Sean personally just built several new rooms in all wood and stone with beautiful decor that retain authentic rustic charm. And we enjoyed talking with Sean. If you prefer a standard hotel-style try other new places along the Gorge.
