This was one crazy hard climb, 10hours over 2 days and 40km almost straight up with a stay in a monastery in between. At 3000m on he golden summit watching the sunrise nothing would have stopped me getting there.
so after 3hours on a bus and a night in the crappiest hotel on earth called teddy bear hotel, i must have killed 40 nah 50 mozzys before i had even had chance to take my bag off my back! then after a bus journey to the nearest station to the mountain i opted to walk up for about 40mins to the first temple rather than pay for a cable car...big mistake! after two hours of walking up wandering why the cable car was going the other directing i had to admit i might have been a little bit lost but when i saw farm houses and chickens wandering around i knew id wasted so much time and was actually nakerd already. so many bugs attacked me in this damn jungle at the bottom too. so i took the cable car and walked for about 4hours more, the hardest day i think iv ever had trying to move past hoards of
chinese tourists and avoid thieving monkeys whilst attempting to scale a damn mountain through blinding mist in below c conditions, are we having fun yet?
anyhoo i found a cool monistery to stay at, luckily the warmer of the two nights as i ended up just having a mat on the floor fine by me it was sweet just to be staying in a monastery! the nest day i was about 3hours from the top as long as i didnt pussy out and take a cable car or a bus, my legs hate me for not! i got constant well dones and hellos and chinese people pointing up saying long way that day, bastards! the higher you get the harder the climb as steps get closer and steeper and the oxygen levels drop and the mist covers everything but screw it its guna take a load more energy to walk back the other way.theres some wicked temples along the way as long as you avoid the hawkers but they arnt too much trouble. after over taking some chinese chain smokers, how the hell they made it i have no idea, and some obviously minted businessmen i got to the
2500m mark. almost there!
after stocking up on water and cookies and a barrel of pistachios i moved on dragging my legs up the steps until i reached the steps to the golden summit which has a huge thousand buddah sitting on top of elephants, elephants lined the pathway up too but the mist meant you couldnt see them until you walked up close and theyre bloody scary when they come out of the blue! if id known it was halloween at the time id have been a tad more on edge i must say, its a pritty spooky atmosphere not being able to see past the mist on an ancient holy mountain. the buddah appeared and a huge wave of relief and sense of achievment washed over before extreme tiredness i needed a place to stay so i could catch the mountains famous and rare sunrise which lights the mountain andthe clouds below up for a little while before its worth every second trust me and if you could have seen the views from the mountain top that day without the mist you would be booking yourself a ticket to emei!
so a smelly ashley with
no clean clothes has just climbed up a mountain, time to walk back down then.....f**k that! i just about managed to get to the place where the busses came about 3/4 up the mountain and got the first bus back, the next time the guide book says taking the bus means you miss the true sense of the place im taking the fecking bus and sleeping in a hotel!
the place filling with chinese tourists started to empty as did the bus as they were all on tours and therefore obliged to buy crap from restaurants and stalls along the way so it was just me and the driver, i gave him my 65p kings of leon cd to stick in what a legend he was rocking out swerving into oncoming traffic!
next up hk, no wait i fucked up next up shenzhen? well ial get to hk eventually then its a night in KL then on to laos...i only know this as i was forced to book now or pay stupid money later!
Adios xx
didnt even know it was halloween until some dude said, lost track
of dates times days everything now
pictures in wrong order and captions are screwed agaiinnn must be doing something wrong
