Now before I start this blog I must add a little poem that I am particularly proud of. I had a moment (or rather 12 hours) of inspiration on the way over from London and thought I'd share it with you. I've called it (rather cleverly I thought) 'The trip to Honkers......I'm going bonkers'. I'm sure you can imagine the quality of my work already.....?! And so starts the trip Off I go Canada a distant memery Traipsing through the snow The trip of a lifetime It's been such a long wait At Heathrow I depart 52 is my gate Flying into Hong Kong My first port of call So much to see and do I'll have a right ball I'll keep everyone updated, with my travelblog on line Happy and sad and sometimes I'll whine ... read more

Chengdu - the Bejing of Sichuan. Wide avenues and junctions, many department store, huge supermarkets, and western top designer stores. le noa kaav ha lev. amarti la - lo nora nikne be sof ha tiol. The tzfifut of the Macdonalds resturants is higher than in New York - noa approved. On contrary to the lonley planet book, that wish that the city will stay jiffa as it used to be, the chines have built a modern city and resereved few streets with the old arcituctre, although very commertial (suveners shops, fancy restaurants and starbuck's coffee). There are some impressive temples and nice parks with tea houses, were we enjoyed reading a book and some interesting kinds of teas. One of the parks we meet unsurprisingly Mr. lee - 37 years old tourist guide that hang ... read more

Dear Parents, This morning, the students attended their last two periods of lesson. Some of them were busy taking photos with their classmates and teachers. At around 10 a.m. we brought the students out to do their final shopping. They purchased items from a supermarket, an IT shop and an accessory shop. There were a few who bought MP3 and MP4 players. After lunch, the students had a farewell gathering with their buddies. Our students put up three performances: a Chinese song item, a traditional-costume fashion show and a Malay song ‘Chan Mali Chan’. They also played some games with their Chinese friends. We’re proud to say that our students were very sporting and volunteered more spontaneously than their Chinese friends. Nadhirah deserves special mention, as she had really done us proud by giving her best ... read more

Dear Parents and Friends, The teachers were very pleased with the students today as everyone was punctual for breakfast. They have learnt to be disciplined. We hope that they will strive to be disciplined in every aspect of life when they return back to Singapore. The students were excited to attend lessons with their buddies this morning. Clearly the home stay has drawn our students closer to their Chinese counterparts. Seeing how happy the students were when they interact with their Chinese friends, the teachers cannot help but feel elated. It is our wish that this interaction between the students from the two schools can continue even beyond this visit. After their lessons, the students rehearsed their items for tomorrow’s cultural exchange session with the students from Deyang Foreign Language School. We trust that the students ... read more

Dear Parents and Friends, After leaving their buddies on a high note, the students were treated to an action-packed day today! After breakfast, the students were broken up into their respective presentation groups for a briefing. Straight after that, the students were whisked off to the Xunlongshan Scenic District within the Sichuan province. We were taken for an expedition of sorts when we successfully navigated through the 200 million years old caves. Although tired, everybody managed to scrape through the caves with nary a scratch. We took a breather at a mock Chinese village reminiscent to those of the 1920s. Melody and Josephine tried their hand at pottery, the old school way. They managed to churn out to pots of their own but obviously being novices, they still have a long way! In any case, it’s ... read more

Dear Parents, All the students have returned to the hostel, safe and sound. They were overjoyed and shared with the teachers what their buddies have bought for them. We’ll leave it to them to share with you when they’re back (We heard one of them received a necklace that cost more than 200 rmb). No wonder some of them commented that they wanted to stay here! (Don’t worry parents, they’re just joking and we all know that they miss home.) Hui Jun’s gastric flu has recovered, but she has a mild headache in the evening. She’ll probably recover after a rest tonight. Tomorrow, the students will be visiting ‘Dragon Cave’. We’ll post their photos’ online after the trip. Please be patient. Regards, Twinning Programme Team ... read more
