Frist day!
When I arrived Thursday night there was a welcome packet waiting for me at the front desk of the hotel. In it was a welcome letter, phone card, metro card, and a Mandarin Chinese book. I have to say that Disney has been very generous to us.
When I got into my room I tried to unpack most of my clothes and get as little organized. In my room I have one single bed and a full bed. There is a desk, TV, and (thank god) air-conditioning. There is an electric kettle in the room which is great for making tea in the morning. In the corner is a "closet". I use that term lightly because it is all exposed with room for about four hangers. There is a shelf on the top and some storage underneath. I have a pretty normal bathroom and some small open storage.
Friday morning I woke up and had to meet everyone in the lobby by 9am. The other trainers a nice. I hope to get to know some of them better. We had to meet John who high up with Disney English but I am not sure what he does. He gave us a brief tour of the area we will be living in and then took us to the local Disney English center for our first morning of training. Training was boring, but it was only in the morning so we were free all afternoon and had the weekend off.
After lunch a bunch of us decided to try the Metro and found ourselves at The Bund. It is a section of the city that has a best skyline in Shanghai. We took some pictures and walked along the river for awhile before deciding we were all tired and wanted to call it a night.
Saturday morning a group went to Old Town, Yu Garden, and the City of Gods Temple. Old Twon is a bunch of crazy shops with thousands of people shopping and eating. It was very pretty with a winding bridge over the water. The garden was really just a beautiful old property with winding paths through buildings and amazing water fixtures. The temple was a Tao temple and very lovely and peaceful. One of the girls in our group is Chinese but was born in California. She bought us incense that she was going to light and bow to

show respect to her ancestors. She allowed us to bow with her.
We ate lunch at a famous dumpling place in the area. It was a nice place with great food.
The whole day was very nice but a lot of walking. That evening a few of us signed up to use the local gym. We got a discount for the two months we are here because we signed up as a group. They offer Zumba and a lot of other fun classes so I am very excited to be able to go there while I am here!
Well that was my first weekend in Shanghai. I will update on this past week of training soon!
Lots and lots of photos below! :)
