#59 Teaching at Taizhou Teachers College, China (Graduation from Freshmen Military Training): Photos 21 to 37

The October weather in the city of Taizhou, Jiangsu Province of China, has become less hot and humid, and a few brisk chills are in the air. Though there has been some heavy fog in the morning, I have needed little beyond my summer clothing, for now. :-) Some of the days even remind me of our beautiful Miami-Beach weather, and I treasure them.

The noise level eight floors below my apartment has remained constant, and only a few hours at night provide minimal abatement from the "symphony" of car-, truck-, bus-, motorcycle-, and moped-horns, whose performance has not improved in the 5 months I have lived here. When these drivers reach their "final" destination, I can only wish, that castration is waiting for them.

Unpleasant thoughts of impending winter have been sufficiently buffered by my 370 eager students, who seem quite willing to share the up-coming colder days with me. They are all students between the ages of 19 to 23, a few are as old as 26, and most are girls. (When I greet a group of them with: "Hello young ladies!", I will have already been rebuked with giggles and the comment: "We are not ladies

there you are you elusive chinese-american-german! it is strange to see you with other students, im sure we all wish that we were the ones in the chairs. HOWEVER, you can just tell that they treat you with the respect that you deserve (it was about time huh). :) we miss you soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much it is crazy. we are always singing "Ich hab' mein Herz in Heidelerg verloren" HAHAHA. and yes, we sing it just like you did. I LOVE YOU

Hans, Enjoy your blogs and photos very much. You are inspiring. By the way, try a good pair of earplugs at night. I have a good pair by my bedside and in my book bag. You never know when you need 'em! They work great for me! Cheers!

Hans, I certainly enjoy your blogs. I was jealous of the Tibet trip and the panda visit. I'm in Nanjing, at Nanjing Normal Univ. and also am teaching future teachers and future business men and women. I have the same male/female ratios. I'm teaching oral English to third year university students. My blog is www.travelblog.org/bloggers/goodsue. I also have the traffic noise and close all the windows and turn on the air conditioner. I have ear plugs, but then I wouldn't hear the alarm at 5:00 a.m. I also tell myself the noise is the ocean and fishing boats out at sea. Good luck with your fantasies about car horns, too. Soon the Chinese will say, no horns in the cities. I can't wait. Susan

SCHNEIDER! Geesh...you can't leave us hanging for a few months...this is our only contact with you! Its nice to know you're still there. We've been pondering why you haven't posted a blog in a looooong while. FYI you are so incredibly missed!!!!! Even if i wrote it here, you wouldnt believe the crazziness thats happening over here! Us poor ab initio kids...Well anyways its nice to know you are having fun. I cant say im not jealous of your students in those pics. It wasn't so long ago that we were the students in those pics. *sigh*. And wow, I feel kind of bad for your students. I mean what is school without the drama of relationships??? Romantic interests and intrigue make the world (or at least school) more interesting. Tell them your american students say hi! xoxo -Ash

Wow, finally, after a long time you post another blog. It seems like your enjoying yourself over there.

schneider, what an exciting time it is here for us in the US right now. i participated in my first election on tuesday, and now i have watched democrats FINALLY take over the house and senate. it is so incredibly exciting! i have to be honest, as soon as i heard that we had taken over the senate as WELL as the house, i thought of you. i think you would be proud to know that americans are finally waking up to the changes needed. and yesterday rumsfeld RESIGNED!!!! my first election... and look how well it went. well i just wanted to share with somebody who would appreciate. i love you so much!

I miss you so much!! I'm glad to see that you are getting along with your new students, and that you're intergrating into your life!!
