A few tidbits to share...some of Class 4, the 34 Grade 7's I see for about 90 mins a day, and a few pics of my daytrip to Macau with Emily (Yan Ting) and Umberto, an Italian fellow I met in the border line up. He studied Chinese in Italy for 5 yrs. and speaks it fluently, has been working in China since February/08.
Class 4 wanted to learn about Halloween, so they made masks and we had a party. You will also see them participating in a morning exercises's competition. Every morning at 7:25 all the Grade 7's, 8's and 9's gather on two school fields and go through a series of movements while marching band music is played over the P.A. system.
We celebrated John's birthday at a German restaurant that (according to John) serves the best beer in China. I agree!
Macau is yet another special economic zone in China (it allows gambling). Ten of thousands of folks from Hong Kong and other nearby cities go there every weekend. It also has a rich Portuguese history, several cathedrals, a fortress and other historical places of interest. Famous for its Portuguese cuisine and natas (custard tarts),
Halloween with class 4They went a little crazy, but we all survived. They didn't know much about Halloween and it's rather difficult to explain.
Macau is quite a unique city.
Morning Drill TeamThey wore a shirt with a Canadian and Chinese flag on it and the phrase '4.7 GO' (class 4, grade 7).
CannonI thought it interesting that the old cannons were facing the casinos.
The United Nationsagain, how surreal to meet an Italian in China who speaks Chinese fluently
Buying Dried MeatYan Ting really liked this beef jerky in Macau. She's in the blue top.
