I am sure Guangzhou is a very nice place, but I don't know. I got a smelly bus there, arrived walked for about an hour and a half got mcdonalds for lunch (groan) then walked another hour to find hostel where I wanted to stay, only it wasn't there.
So I decided to go find a temple and Jade market I thought would be good. Only my map was wrong, I could find certain streets but others just didn't exist. I wandered for ages, got lost and then the torrential rain started.
I realise, I am in a strange city, where no-one speaks English, no clue where I am, no idea if I can find bus station never mind get a bus back and nowhere to stay and I am soaked, also I seem to have developed an allergy to the rain, the bottom of my legs and feet are covered in a rash (yuck). Hmmm, not exactly sensible.
After ages I finally find somewhere to stay which thankfully, is clean and nice. I then go in search for food, by this time my stupid knees are agony and I give up and have food at an okish place where the food was only ok.
I go to bed which as I said was clean and nice, only very hard (like a plank of wood). I think that the next day is going to be better.
I wake up and get breakfast at a Starbucks (good start although not exactly a new exciting thing) I then go looking for a park and temple, only once again I got lost, which despite me getting lost so many times in 2 days is not like me, I usually can find my way about ok.
I decide to get a taxi, despite my map and saying the place in chinese the driver does not have a clue. So I go to the bus station, hunt for my bus which was nice and clean and enjoyed the scenery on my way back to Zhongshan.
I actually really enjoyed the journey back, but I feel I am a little bit of an idiot, oh well at least I am living up to my name - Daft.
