Beijing, Beijing, I love Beijing... that was a song playing in Olympics games, I prefer to explore Beijing than Shanghai. We are back again to Beijing, this time with another friends, the most of them had never been Beijing before, being in Beijing at first always is very impressive, while they explored the traditional Forbidden city and Heaven temple, I went to Hutong with another friends. Hutong is old habitation for people in Beijing, the best place to see how was life in Beijing, nowadays the majority of people living are old men, almost all the young people are out for jobs, and it turns the most of Hutong into a tourist place. Near to the Hutong was Hou lake park, that was a center of bars and restaurants, excellent place for entertainment and night life.
We also went to the Liulifang, a place where sell the antiques, very interesting place, a street with so many tents selling old things, books, drawings, clocks, clothes, boxes, coins, porcelain, etc. One of advantage there is no such people, that is not a tourist place, to buy the old stuff, I recommend you have a price in your mind for the stuff you want,
because the price there are normally subjective.
This time we made a mistake, on way to the great wall, we stopped at a little restaurant to have lunch, the waiter brought the menu, we had a quick look and ordered some simple foods, and the waiter suggested us a fish, we said ok, finished the lunch we asked for bill, and we were astonishing, that fish cost about RMB1000 per kilo, ouch!!! Extremely expensive!!! We tried to argue, but we had to pay in the end, we should ask the cost of fish before, didn't suppose that was normal price, our fault... Leason learned, always asking and you won't be cheated.
