What a day! I was not sure what to expect with the adventure today. The temples from yesterday were amazing and I was not sure how Angkor could be so much more....How wrong I was! Before that though, I have to say that Ta Prohm was straight out of Tomb Raider and was so amazing I kept thinking it was not real...it is amazing what the jungle had done and the power of a banyon tree...even one sever feet around and more than 75 feet tall...more I am sure....
We had great luck this morning and had Ta Prohm to ourselves for more than an hour. That was just enough time to tour around the outside walls and make it into the inner walls...we did have to fight our way to get a picture of the famous banyon without anyone in it....
From there it was to Banyon...again, words and pictures can not describe it....Faces, hundreds of them looking at you from every angle....we also went to a couple of the smaller temples (Preah Pithu and others not listed in the guide...)
Finally it was on to Angkor Wat...but....on the way we found a troop of monkeys! Rae
screamed and scared our poor tuk tuk driver, I thought we were going to crash into the tour bus! Rae's adventure is complete now....As we rounded the corner and Angkor Wat came into view, I honestly lost my breath...I was prepared to be disappointed but I could never have prepared for the massive size of the temple and the entire complex...years of waiting and dreaming came true today.....
So just to round things out, we are taking one final tuk tuk adventure...this one is sure to be an adventure to be remembered...River of a thousand lingas is our last stop and after two hours each way, in a tuk tuk that does no more than 30km an hour....we will have had our fill.....
Just a couple of ramblings....
The 5 yr old Russian boy is not only allowed to drink beer but based on what we saw last night, he is also allowed, no is encouraged, to play in the darkened streets....
Hey lady you give me money is not the way to get someone to buy something. Better to try 'Hey lady you buy something'....
Finally, the maximum number of people you can get
on a motor scooter is 5, that is unless you put one in the basket....20 is the number of people who will fit in the back of a pickup and if you drive the biggest truck on the road, you must wear a motorcycle helmet.....
The connection is really slow today, slower than normal, so the pics will have to wait....
So it is time to try and cool off, yes it is still very hot and humid.... :)
