ps. Kari wrote this one!
Chris - being very romantic whisked me away for a weekend to celebrate the completion of a 6,000 word literature review and the completion of a research proposal! So thus finishes the assignment part of my Masters! Only a placement to go which starts in July!
We stayed on this little island right next to Phnom Penh where as you guessed it they make silk! It was very relaxing swimming in the pool. We made friends with a Khmer family who invited us to share lunch with them & helped them learn how to swim. I got to spin silk and appreciated how hard it is to do, we were invited to share lunch with the owners of the silk shop however we had only just had a late breakfast so we were too full. I'm sharing this story to give you an indication of how generous they were.
A quick update on my work so far (June 2012):
• I have completed a Life Skills Program for young male Prisoners and I also co-facilitate the program and I have been making adjustments to the program based on what worked
& what didn't work in implementation. So it is great to get that feedback and be able to learn through the process.
• I have also completed a 2 day skill development training package for an organisation covering the following topics:Engagement, Microskills, Role clarification, Depression, Anxiety and PTSD, Self-Harm, Suicide & responding to Suicide attempts, 4 strategies to responding to violent & aggressive behaviour, Vicarious Trauma, Burn Out & Self-Care. This took 3 months to do part-time and it is strongly researched & thorough.
