Beoung Kak Lake.

View from our guesthouse in Phnom Penh.
Well, after the boat engine broke down, we finally got towed to shore. We then took a mini bus headed for Kratie, or so we thought. The roads in Cambodia are mud slides. The bus in front of us skidded and got stuck in the mud. Then we skidded and almost fell into a ditch.

Our bus broke down in the middle of nowhere and they couldn't say if anything could be done that night. Everyone was freaking because there was nothing around for miles and it was going to pour any second.
Finally this family invited us into their home and made us this amazing dinner. It was so great and everyone was "bonding." Even I was nice to people. Except for one girl, but she was a bitch and everyone on the bus wanted to kill her anyway. But after about 4 hours we got a replacement bus! We got to Kratie and crashed again. Next morning we drove to Phnom Penh, where we are right now.

Kalyna put her favourite shoes to dry on the ledge beside the Mekong River. This guy was taking a picture and most likely - (I KNOW HE DID IT!) knocked it over. Well he denied it and Kalyna's been whining ever since and even carries that damn single shoe in her backpack like some kind of god.

They tried to force me to ride a bike this morning but I refused. We walked around these crazy markets, endless mazes, with tons and tons of barber shops and beauty salons surrounded by fruit stands and shoe racks.
Then we went and saw the National Museum which was really beautiful. Kalyna got to drive a cycle, which was the funniest thing ever. The wheels and seat are practically bigger than her.

Oh and one more funny thing. Animals in Phnom Penh are NOT FRIENDLY. Kalyna has been bitten once and threatened twice, but hasn't learned her lesson. I have a feeling I'm going to been carrying her bandaged and bruised by the end of our stay.
