Siem Reap
Kate and Kath on a tuk tuk with our luggage to the airport!
We are writing this blog from Loas - Vientiane to be exact!
We made our way to Siem Reap where we had 2 nights organised at a hotel as part of our tour.
Siem Reap is a city in the north of Cambodia. The city has some amazing hotels. We figured it must by on the tourist map as there are severla 5 star hotels in the city.
We only had 1 full day in Siem Reap so it was spent on tour vieiwing the Temples of Angkor. The temple is just amazing. The temple is a vision of the creation of King Suryavarman 2 who during his reign extended his empire from northern Thailand to Burma. He built it to serve as a holy capital city and eventually as his funeral temple. We also visited the Angkor Thom and They Bayon.
The next day we had booked a flight to Vientiane - Laos. We decided to fly as it is a rather long but ride. We got talking to some other travellers who said the bus trip would be too far from Cambodia so we bit the bullet and decided to fly. It was a very

small airplane. We bought visas for Laos at the airport. The official price was $25.00 US however when we arrived at Loas everyone on the plane had to give in a extra US$1 in cash to the "official man" who stamped our passports! Very dodgy.
We didnt have a hotel booked so we met some people on the plane and we all caught a mini van into the city centre and followed them to where they were staying. We were in luck and there was a room available. There is not much to see really in Vientiane. It was simply a stop over to do some washing and organise a bus ticket to a place called Vang Vieng which is about 4 hours by bus. We leave tommorrow morning and will be there early afternoon.
Anyway, running out of time on the net. Have uploaded some photos.....
take care
