Ok, so I should explain that there are no traffic laws in Siem Reap. Bike, motorbike, and garbage truck all share the same lane and turn, stop, start and pass whenever they like. So, trying to be confident and not get myself killed on my brand new Cambodian bicycle I turn forcefully to the right and pray that there is nothing in front or behind me.
There was.
A monk on a motoribke hit my back wheel and then proceeded to fall off of his moto into the street. How many times can you apologize to a monk to prevent a lifetime of bad karma?
Minor traffic accidents aside, everything has been amazing. We've spent the last 6 days helping the orphanage move from their old location in the "suburbs"to a new spot closer to town. This has included digging three toilets, moving a HUGE pile of banana leaves to the back of the yard, tiling three class rooms, lifting countless bamboo carriers full of dirt across the lot, moving the same HUGE pile of banana leaves to the front of the lot........you get the picture.
The kids are amazing and there are 7 other volunteers as of yesterday so we're in good company.
Lots of pictures as soon as I figure out how to upload them!
