Wow, 3 days visiting pretty much most of all the Anchor temples. We are now all templed out!
Our driver, John was very good. He knew a lot about all the temples and the Cambodian way of life and was more than happy to help us learn. Linda was being a bit of a Indiana Jones, reading up on every temple before we got there and getting very involved in photographing the temples and all the fine carvings on all the walls. After seeing Stonehenge in the United Kingdom, you realise that the english actually are usless and have nothing to prove how great they were compared to the temples in Cambodia. Shame!
John our driver took us on a shot cut through the countryside the other day. It had been raining a lot and the road was dirt which turned to mud. There were huge pot holes and mud pools. A couple of times we had to get out and walk so the tuck tuck could get through the mud. Amazing countryside, rice fields everywhere and water as far as the eye can see. We stopped at one bridge where there were 3 guys in the river fixing up nets.
The one guy threw a leech to us to have a look, it was huge! I do not want to be swimming in there with these thing in the water. He also threw up 2 small crabs to look at, very funny, John then took them for dinner but threw them in the tuck tuck where we were sitting, Linda was not to happy about this so he put them in a packet. While walking in the mud so tuck tuck could get through, locals were just laughing at us, I don't think they see many tourists on this road?
That evening we met up with Drew and Kristen for dinner at their hotel, a pleasant evening chatting and having a laugh.
Anyway, we are leaving Siem Reap tomorrow and make our way to Phnom Penh to see the Killing Fields. We will be there for no more than 2 days and then we make our way down to the South of Cambodia, Sihanoukville, which is on the coast. From there we will see where we will spend the next week or two as Sihanoukville is supposed to be not that interesting but there are islands of there with good
diving. We will see!
