Hello all, Now I know that I sent you all a blog only a few days ago, but since then I have been to Angkor Wat and have several photos you may or may not wish to see. Further more, I've been in a car crash.... At this point you should probably know that the said crash was in fact a collision between an electric bike (or more accuratly American Andy's electric bike) and a young ladies moto. Regretfully she clipped the back of the bike, where I was and wiped out. However, both myself and Andy were unhurt and apart from a slight graze and the expected shock she was as well. For those who may care a little more for Dylan or Liz than for me, no they where not involved and were not ... read more

E-mail #4 Keep on rollin'... Hi everyone, Hope everyone is doing well. I hear that the sun has finally shone in Vancouver..I'll cross my fingers for you and hope that it will stay from now through the summer! All is well in Asia. I managed to fight off the dirty food out of my system and I have been stung so many times by mosquitoes now that I think that I can produce an anti-sting remedy from my blood. #$%@ I hate mosquitoes!!! I am presently in Cambodia and love it! Today we rented pedal bikes and biked from 7-4pm amongst the ruins around Angkor Wat. For those who don't know, the Angkor Wat site is comprised of a number of temples (wats) built from the 8th to 12th century by the Khmer kings and its ... read more

Hello all! Hope your in the best of health. Admitdly have taken some time since my last blog (poor effort on my part I know) and apologies for that. The reason is that I have been musing and I didn't want to rush the process. Firstly, I would like to say that Miss Daisy Taranoskwa is evil, as is anybody else who dislikes my blog or even does the unthinkable and compare it in an unfavourable manner to that Dylan chaps' blog. Secondly, I have recently become the somewhat bemused and confounded owner of a 8 mega pixal camera (as you hopefully can tell from the pictures). I am told by dylan that this is a rather good camera, but to be honest I still can't use it after several hours of playing. Anywho, getting to ... read more

Hello All!! And so we left Mumbai and India behind and headed on our jet plane for Bangkok. We only spent one full day there before we left for Cambodia and we go back in a couple of weeks so I won't go into any detail as to what we did - just visited the Royal Palace Complex and a couple of Wats (Buddhist Temples) and I'll load a few snaps up of Bangkok we've been there another day or two. So we left Bangkok really early in the morning so that we'd avoid queues at the border with Cambodia which we sailed through with no problems. For some reason I expected things to be completely different on the other side of the border but of course they weren't!. We arrived at Siem Reap fairly early ... read more

11th April 2006 I think having now left Cambodia, it is our favourite country to date. We spent just under a week there but saw more in that week than most of our travels so far. Not one journey made was without incident. Even crossing the road was an experience! The first journey was on a plane from Bangkok to Phnom Penh, before boarding we bumped into two people we had met three weeks before in Phuket. Lisa and Paul are there names and they are from Ireland (Paul - Dublin, Lisa - Waterford). We ended up spending the entire time with them in Cambodia because A. they were lovely to hang out with and B. we were able to share taxi and tour costs. I must say, landing in Cambodia and driving to Phnom Penh ... read more

I’ve never been anywhere that I legitimately thought that a poisonous dart would be shot out of the mouth of a statue if I stepped on the wrong stone. This all changed the moment I stepped into the ruins of Beng Mea Lea fifty five kilometers southeast of the main temples of Angkor Wat. Its funny how most people are so completely enamored with the main temples of Angkor, the temples that have the size or the temples that have the charm of having been taken apart and restored to their original splendor. Not me. I shouldn’t say that these monuments were unimpressive in my eyes, but rather I was looking for something more mystifying, more taken by the jungle. The Temple Of Ta Prohm, which was featured in one of the poorly constructed Tomb Raider ... read more

Now this was what we'd been waiting for! Angkor was one place that was high on our list of places to see in asia, and it was worth the wait. Loads of temples, everywhere. More than you could count. We spent 3 days cycling around the various sites. The pictures hardly do it justice as some of the complexs were just plain huge. The temples are in various conditions. Some had been restored, others being restored and some just left to the jungle. Angkor Wat is the most famous temple in the area, however its been looted so much in the last few years that its lost a bit of its charm. We found the ones in the jungle by far our favorite. Proper Indiana Jones style! ... read more

Made the bus trip up from Pnom Penh to Siem Reap, the jumping off point of touring Angkor Wat, and once again, the bus ride was interesting. This time merely Cambodian music videos and comedy shows, which isn't bad, but at full volume for 7 hours, it becomes a bit much. Exiting the bus also proved a challenge as all the westerners were greeted by about 50 touts, all screaming (literally) "come to my guest house, cheap," while jabbing flyers at you. At one point, I stopped to shove some books into my pack, I literally had to push signs for guest houses out of the way to put things into my pack. The only thing I could do was laugh at the absurdity of the situation, it was quickly sorted out and I was off ... read more

I have witnessed the passed glorious of Khmer, I also have witnessed the poor Khmer today. On 13 April 06, all of us 6 together (Ah look, Siang, Vinuman, Kok Keong and Yuet Choo) went to Siem Reap & one of the great ancient city in the world - Angkor Wat. 13 April 06 We reached Siem Reap international air port at around 11:15am. After checked in, we took the French baguette with Combodian style (French bread with pork) at the road side stall. Then loitering at Old Market. The Old Market was crowded as the next day was Khmer’s New Year. The street traffic was mess (as no divider) and dusty. There were many kid beggars on the street. It was a very hot day, hence we heading to a restaurant and took a fresh ... read more
