We waiting along the roadside for a few hours trying to get a taxi to take us from Inle to Kalaw. I took a few shots of multiple modes of transport here.

Ended up riding on the back of a truck, Joanna on a a few bags of grain! Made it to Kalaw before the rain. Found a great Nepali restaurant for dinner! There is a great hike from Kalaw to Inle that we could not fit in but saw some great pics of.

Stayed at this ramshamble of a hotel, not many choices here. Very musty room and basically outdoor shower, it had a roof but was still quite open. Fairly high in mountains here so was a bit chili. The worst part was there was some holiday or death or some occasion that made a monk chnat ito a loudspeaker all night! Not kidding! Not even a good loudspeaker but one of those old PA ones where it crackles and sounds very distant, but still loud. All night long, then he quit when dawn hit!! Time for our 6 hr bus to Mandalay.

Beatle root! The Burmese chew this like I have never seen! I'd estimate that half the population chews this!
