This place was sooo cool
Shwe Inn Thein Paya - Inthein "On August 13th, we flew to Inle Lake. We went to the hotel and stayed. We played shop. It was fun. At 3:30, we went to the winery with our German friends. We ate dinner there too. Me and Lynn played and colored. Then we said goodbye and went back to the hotel. We went to get ice cream and then slept. On August 14th we took a boat to lots of places. One of them had 1,500 stupas. When we got there I slipped in the mud and then got up. Then I had wet pants because it was raining. In the stupas there where Buddhas. In the boat it started raining like crazy! We went to a store where they make blankets. I got a red headband. Then we went to a cat monastery with lots of cats. Finally, we went back to the hotel." -

Daddy's Comments: Our next stop in Myanmar was Inle Lake. We met our German friends at the airport and planned to meet up the first night. Leave it to me to find out that there are actually 2 wineries
in Burma and they are both located near Inle Lake. My research showed that the one closest to the lake was the one to go to, and it was started by some French Guy. So we made plans to meet there.
A 45 minute drive to the lake and we arrived at our hotel,
Hotel Amazing Nyaungwe She This is one of the hotels I had reserved by internet but had to pay for in Rangon. It was a really nice hotel, great room and view. We decided to hang out in the room for a couple hours and Sofia entertained me by putting on a hilarious show. She was a shop owner and then did all kind of funny skits. Some of the pics of her characters in the skits show her creativity and made me laugh many times. Sofia spotted a large snake in the water outside our hotel which we both thought was pretty awesome. We had some street food which we both absolutely loved. Then took a taxi to the winery.

The winery,
Red Mountain Estate , was in a beautiful location and we hung out there, went on a brief tour, and
had a snack of wine, sprite, and cheese. Then our friends arrived. We then had a delicious meal outside and the adults tried the different wines made there. Actually, whether it was the ambiance or the wine, the adults thought many of the bottles were good and I brought some back to the USA. Not too many of my wine drinking friends have tried wine from Burma. Unfortunately, none of the bottles are worth cellaring and waiting until you can drink, Sofia. It was a great evening and we all had a blast.
The next day we took a boat ride for the day on Inle Lake. The day started beautiful and it was very peaceful on the long boat (thought the motor was a bit loud we got used to it). We first stopped off at a market. Sofia was not a fan, but we both enjoyed the tractor ride back to the boat. Our next stop was one of the holiest religious sites on the lake, Phaung Daw Oo Paya. We then had lunch at a restaurant where we had a lot of laughs singing one of our theme songs "2 little spoons stuck in a hot
dog, yeah, yeah, yeah" (See video for explanation) Great food at the restaurant that Sofia said was "in the middle of nowhere". After lunch, we stopped off at some places for gifts.
Inthein was next and this was to me the most memorable spot on our tour. The boat ride itself was even more interesting as it seemed we were going into a jungle on smaller channels off the river. A short hike, and we reached Shwe Inn Thein Paya that had all these different colored Stupas and Sofia loved checking out some of the Buddhas within. Really cool looking place and we hiked around it for a while.
After Inthein, it started to rain. It poured so hard that visibility at time was very low. We hunched over under our umbrellas but still got wet. It was not cold so not a big deal at all and it was a pretty surreal experience. We arrived soaked at Nga Hpe Kyaung monastery. It was known as the "Jumping Cat" Monastery, as the monks had trained the cats to jump through hoops. However, we chatted with a monk for a while who told us that people had
Time For Seconds
Great Street Food come to just see the cats and not the beautiful architecture and religious items in the monastery so the stopped that. Sofia, loved all the cats that were around, and I was glad that she previously was vaccinated against rabies.

It was a great trip around the lake, and then back to the hotel. We had a flight back to Rangon in the morning.....
